First Patek incoming 5167r

Have wanted a PP for a number of years and this year i decided I was going to pull the trigger and buy one.

The first attempt, I had a big payday coming and had found a like new 5167a. In the few weeks it took for my payday to come in, the price of the grey 5167a jumped about 10k.

The second attempt this year, an AD had told me he allocated me one, weeks later called me that it was in. The next day I got a call that there was a problem and he was not able to sell the watch to me.

The third and final attempt. I found a new AD, chatted for a good bit about who I am, what I do and about my watch collection. He asked me my top 3 wish list. I gave him a list including the 5167 in any config. Weeks later he let me know a 5167r had come in and it was mine if I wanted it. I went in today to pick it up and couldn’t be more thrilled.

No, I don’t think I would wear it now that I have the R in my collection. Would love a nautilus.

Congrats! It is my everyday watch. For my lifestyle the Aquanaut gets way more wrist time than my Nautilus but your mileage may vary.

Amazing. The R version makes it a bit more spectacular imho! Glad that it worked out in the end. Enjoy it to the max!

What was the problem, why couldn't the AD sell you the watch? Double allocated or not enough spend?

Does this have an impact? Are you a celebrity?

Double allocated. And no I am not a celebrity, i am a CPA. It definitely has an impact to establish a rapport with the AD rather than going in and asking for a hard to find watch.

I was 1st or 2nd in line for a steel aquanaut after about 4 years when my AD's head office decided to drop Patek from that particular store. I'm meant to be on a list at one of their other stores now but that happened about 18 months ago and not a peep re PP since.

I'm getting a YM42 shortly to scratch the expensive watch on rubber itch and will enquire about PP in general when I'm there.

You lucky man!

Looks good on you, when I had the 5167 it was my daily. I think if I went back to it, I’d go to 5167R for sure as my daily. Looks amazing.

You’ll love the WG YM. It’s a tank, but under the radar, it probably gets the most wrist time of anything in my collection.

All of the non-yachtmaster II’s are under-appreciated.

Ha, CPA could not be more opposite to being a celeb. I used to make films in a past life and my email gives that away so I used to get a few follow up questions from ADs after I gave it out. Not been seriously to an AD in ages but maybe in this climate it might work for me instead of just delaying me.

Congrats on the Aqua.

Congratulations OP.....

If you have both Aquanaut and Nautilus.... I bet you will wear the Aquanaut more than the Nautilus because it look better on your wrist......

Ouch :(. I like to think I’m up close to celebrity status.

Looks fantastic! Used to be my daily wearer until I recently purchased a 5524g. Love them both.! Enjoy and don't worry about the fine scratches that will eventually happen..
