Looking to add ...but is less REALLY more?

It's time to shake up my collection and I'm dealing with a difficult decision:

1. Trade my 114060 Submariner towards a 126500 Daytona black, plus....
2. Acquire a steel AP Code 11.59 blue dial (Don't hate - tried it on at boutique and surprisingly really liked it)

3. I just encountered the AP Royal Oak Chrono 41 ref #26320ST black dial and was absolutely WOW'd by it.

With the $$ available its either trade the sub and funds towards the the one Royal Oak Chrono or get both the Daytona and Code 11.59??

As always I appreciate all TRF feedback

Never trade a Submariner … it always leads to regret

Thanks Brandrea and I understand your point and have been pondering this move for almost a year.

The SUB it doesn't see much wrist time anymore since I purchased my VTNR with both oyster and jubilee bracelets last September. Plus, being a lefty who travels internationally 3-4 times annually and green being my favorite color, it seems like a redundant piece that just sits in the roll.

I traded 2 Submariners; 114060 and 116610 for a BLNR and a VTNR a year ago.

Like any Rolex "Collector/not Collector" I believed you couldn't have multiple watches w/o a Rolex Sub. After 6 years owning them, I got bored with them and bought GMTs.
I've never looked back.
In fact, I have no plan to buy any Sub, green ,black, blue in the future.
I'd like to buy a Chrono next, Daytona, Zenith, IWC, Omega, haven't made up my mind.

So for me, let 'er rip!
PS I'm a lefty too!!!

VTNR and Royal Oak Chrono for the ultimate combo. ROC pushes your wrist game FAR up stream.

I’d VTNR daily and ROC for the weekend fun. The RO bracelet turned “nice watch” to jewelry. It’s a huge step up from pieces mentioned.

I’d go for the RO chrono.

Less is more imo, but obviously personal preference.

That said, RO chrono is miles ahead of SS Rolex, once you wear it you’ll understand. Sub does nothing for me. Trade the sub and some cash

I’m probably going against the trend but I say Daytona and code 11. They wear very different and can fit all your needs. Having only a ROC , I think you’ll regret the variety

I have a sub, daytona, and code (wish I had an ROC). I do think the ROC is nicer than the Daytona straight up, but at current prices it should be a PM Daytona vs a steel ROC. And that’s a different story. Oh and I love my Code. If you know you know

Buy them all, and let the kids sort it out after you pass.

I completely agree. ROC is in another league. You have to see it in person and try it on to understand.

Although you've already responded I can only repeat this. You'll likely end up buying it twice in the fullness of time. But each to our own.

Why would you trade the most iconic Rolex for anything else? Bad idea!

Not a huge fan of the Daytona and I have owned them all, in all metals. I do not like AP at all. If you want a Daytona then buy it but I would not trade a Submariner. Just give the Sub some wrist time, it is a great watch and an icon. I would get an Omega Speedmaster, you can actually read the dial, over a Daytona and pick up the new white dial or the classic black dial and save a fortune. Unless this is just about flexing and the Daytona is a huge flex watch. The AP, I am just not that guy. Take that for what it is worth. Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Make the trade.

Enjoy more watches.

You can always go back to a SS sub.
There are plenty out there.

agree Less is more, I've got 20 watches and find I don't wear 5 of them all that much so time to let them go to new homes :)

Our tastes change over time, so buy what you love and let the other go
