3055 movement

I have a man's Day Date 1st quickset, which is date quickset only. I think it is a 3055 movement. I've had a lot of problems with it. Cannot seem to keep it running. Started with the date skipping forward a day or two. Finally broke its mainspring. I've had it worked on many times. I've read that this movement is problematic. I'm actually thinking of replacing the movement with a nonquickset movement, which I think is a 1555 or 1556. May be more of a pain to set, but has to be less problematic. My question is, will the 1555/1556 movement fit in my case? Thank you for any responses

I wouldn't do it.

A 3055 is a great movement when it's in good condition, get it serviced properly by RSC.

As with a lot of Rolex movements it's harder to get them not to work than working. We aren't talking about fixing an ETA 2000 here.

Get a Rolex watchmaker to service it and you'll be good
