I really think I need an Explorer II
I need a GMT watch far more than I need a dive watch these days.
The ExpII is plenty waterproof for my needs. I haven't used my 60-minute bezel in a year or more. My eyes are going, so a cyclops would be helpful. Realistically, I could sell my SD and buy a holes-case ExpII AND a nice Seamaster or PO. Pre-owned ExpII's are so reasonable now that I could probably buy one and keep the SD, then, when I am worm food, each of my kids can have one. |

Yeah, the sirens have been calling me on this one too.
I just went to the AD today and they didn't have any for me to test drive.

Yessss! Do it. Make it happen. The only risk I see is that you will want to hold on to the Explorer II permanently, meaning no more flipping! LOL....

I will probably be picking one up this June, but the more I see the EXP II pics that were supposed to be at this years Bazel, the more I almost want to wait to see if they bring back the orange hand.

I haven't regretted choosing my ExpII for a second. I like several watches, but there is something really special about this one.

Do it, Ed! The Explorer II is currently the best value Rolex. And it's definitely a keeper.

Sirens have been calling on me as well... althought the song they're singing to me is the GMT -C, that Explorer II is a fantastic watch as well!

I want one too, but a 1655. Then again, we'll see if the 2011 model brings us the big orange hand.

You will love it!
This has quickly become my Go-To watch... I love wearing it all the time... It's just too comfortable on my wrist and looks great!

well... you've answered all questions, and don't need any convincing. DO IT! the biggie is whether or want a rotating bezel. but if you don't, you don't.

Ed, Keep the SD and buy an EXP II, black. If your vision is....shall we say... diminishing, the black provides better contrast. I have both and can attest to that. The white dial is for "low light conditions" alledgedly, but the the lume and dial run together at dusk or in the car driving. The kids will appreciate it, for sure. Mine have already divided my collection, in their minds, anyway!
