When the SA ghosts you
Got offered a root beer a few weeks back, nearly pulled the trigger. But ended up declining it.
Wasn't what I originally wanted and I got caught up with the hype and allure of the everrose. Messaged the SA to let them know. No response. Left it a week and chased up. Still no response. Asked if I could transfer my deposit to the ones I originally want. Nothing. Not sure about the rest of the UK or even other customers in the north west UK, but my experience has been deposit required for any watches from my ad. Maybe away. Giving it another week before I see if I can contact management. |

AD arrogance seems to getting worse not better. In the past 5 years I’ve had a Sub, DJ31 and a YM40 from the Newcastle Goldsmiths AD and I popped in last week to enquire how often the Sub should have its waterproofing tested and they looked at me like I was a maggot crawling out of a piece of cheese lol.

Op, forget the SA and go see management and resolve the issue. There is no need to chase any SA or be treated like this, very unprofessional. Apparently the SA is upset because you did not pick up the piece and it was probably given to another SA to sell.
I can’t believe this continues there is no reason for it? There is no reason for this buy what you want! The CHNR is a beautiful piece one of the best looking in the GMT range. So I’m sure that they had no trouble selling it to someone else. Cheers, |

I had SA that helped me out, but for some reason he never speaks to me anymore when I visit the AD. I work with someone else now, of course.
I think when he found out I was buying pieces at the AD's other location (all computer linked) he got a little upset. |

Forget this SA and visit the store in person. You should not be ghosted like this when making a luxury purchase. If the watch isn’t correct, the SA should understand this and not expect you to buy a watch you don’t want.

I originally reached out to my former SA. I get a message from someone else with that number saying the previous sa with that number had left the company. So I rang up their head office to book an appointment and with a different SA who I had a few meetings with in the past.
I went in a few weeks back, we had a catch up, I tell him what I had my eyes on and it's for my milestone birthday. He brings out a everrose yachtmaster 40 and a two tone GMT master 2 chnr. The allure of them both hooked me in. Had. A few days to think about it and opted for the CHNR. SA calls me to confirm and then sends me a link to pay my deposit for the CHNR. Scheduled to head in nearly 2 weeks ago to pick up the CHNR. Bearing in mind I'm no whale VIP client and that was the first time I've tried it on the wrist. Tried it on for a bit and as I was nearly about to confirm payment, I had second thoughts as it's not what I actually want. Said I want a bit more time to think about it. A few days later I messaged to decline and asked if my deposit could be transferred to one I actually want. Since then no response and messages unread. (I know this as there's blue ticks for previous read messages). It's one of those AD that unless you book na appointment, they will always say they are busy and to come back another time with an appointment. I get it, it's to manage staffing and client loads. |

Did you specifically put a deposit down on the Rootbeer. Was the deposit nonrefundable? Could be you are out your money. As Fleetlord said, go by the store to sort it out and hopefully they will transfer your deposit to another watch.

Yes deposit on the root beer. Deposit is refundable as the SA said if it's not the right time, it's not the right time. End of the day it's a watch. A very nice, luxury watch and that if they need to refund then it'll be returned to my card within a few days.
Gonna give it a week just incase the SA is away. I doubt that he'll have let as he's been there for nearly 20 years. But even if that was the case, there should be someone else to take over and sort this out. |

I would have been at the store a while ago to confirm deposit I’d either getting credited back to the card or getting transferred to something else.
Think about it from their end. You requested the watch, you placed deposit, then they get you the watch then you decide no. They might have written you off. |

I’m not sure you’ll be offered much, if anything from that AD in the future.
You paid a deposit on a particular model, and backed out when it came in, despite having tried it on prior to deposit etc. Yes you have the right to not go ahead, but they won’t be keen to serve you in the future, I’d say. |

Yes I should've considered my decision better. I got caught up in the Rolex hype and the allure of the CHNR. Also felt I had to pull the trigger and put the deposit down just to hold that watch so it doesn't get sold. Again, the Rolex hype got me. They didn't have to get the watch in, it was already in and he brought it out and said it's available alongside a everose YM 40. The thought that I'll be blacklisted from future sales cos they thought I was flaky and indecisive did cross my mind. That would be rolexes though. I'm sure of I went in for future jewellery, Tudor, tag and other brands, they would still happily serve me. I'm just seeing it from a business perspective. Even if he responded and said no problem, either the deposit is lost/ refunded/ transferred to another watch, then I'm fine. It's not like this is health and he's an orthopaedic surgeon where it's quality of life or he's an accountant and knows legal ways to save me a tonne of money. |

Don't jump to any conclusions based on what you have information wise. All of this could be true or it could just be that the SA is away or another legitimate reason. I would stop sending messages or calling. Go into the AD and have a conversation face to face with a SA and/or the manager or both. Be polite and see what they tell you. Once you get that information you can make a decision on how to proceed. Good luck and keep us posted.

A lot of people are saying OP should get his deposit back. Most places state their policy is that deposits are non-refundable and not transferrable to another item. Otherwise, chaos will ensue very quickly for the merchant.

Yep, sorry man you are SOL here. You are dead to that AD. Business is business, but they will be fine without your business. Now it will be a pain in the butt to go out of your way, go there, speak to the manager, get your refund. That’s the priority ! Cross this place off your list for future - head to WoS or Bucherer, or even better just go to a trusted seller and get it tomorrow, price is the same when you factor in savings in tax (at least in the US) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
