Wish I could take pics like JJ

After spending 20 minutes trying to get a decent picture, this is the best I could do. After looking at many posted by you guy's, I have a lot to learn.
The watch is great, new in December 05, still babied and running great! Wearing it for the first week was almost unbearable, too self conscious and anal about the damn watch. Realized it would wear well and now more comfortable with it.
I did determine the luminesence was fine. Living in Alaska, the days are short this time of the year, not much light, and was worried when the watch was hard to read in the dark. After you guys told me about the process, I exposed it to light, and now it almost keeps me awake at night!
Thanks again!
I hope the link below works...........

Nice pics Raycee. And as Roger states, please don't say anything nice about JJ. We don't want him to think that we're really his friends.

Welcome to TRF Rayce like everything practise makes perfect when picture taking. A tripod and the lighting are the most important, you can make a simple light box.Have a check on line about light boxes, natural lighting is best over artificial if you have choice.

Nice YM Rayce!

By the way, as others have pointed out, lighting is the key to good photos. JJ has a distinct advantage due to the reflective nature of his cranium - it has a way of gathering the ambient light and directing it onto the subject of his photos - hard to duplicate without a sharp razor and many coats of Turtle Wax........

Hey Peter, read what Rayce wrote about Alaska?

Nice pics, Rayce! Unfortunately you'll find that that wonderful sapphire crystal can sometimes make taking photos a pain. Peter's got a good point about light boxes - diffusing the light will give you enough exposure without too much reflection off the crystal. Also, with my old leave-nothing-under-the-user's-control camera, I found that placing the light source behind the camera helps. If you do have control over the functions, play around with shutter speed and exposure to find out what works best.

The pics are good, Rayce, but the watch is par excellence itself. Just keep on practising with different angles and lighting and you'll eventually get it right.

If you can use MACRO mode, nothing like it. Of course, you'll need to either have a tripod or place the camera on a solid object so you don't shake it whilst depressing the shutter - in MACRO mode the camera's gotta be rock steady!!

Good luck and thanks for the appreciation - JJ

Actually, you're not too far behind that other tosser, Johnny. A little more effort on your part and you should be able to overtake him. Ed, on the other hand, is supreme!! I don't see him being displaced off that Numero Uno perch in many a year to come!!
