brushed links for a day date
Thinking about buying a day date and considering a more sporty oyster bracelet and smooth bezel. model 118208
Has anyone ever brushed the center links on an 18k gold oyster? I would love to see a photo of one. |

I’ve never seen it. But I feel like it might take away from one of the unique aspects of a gold oyster bracelet.
Could look awesome though. |

Funny you should ask. I just bought a 118208 and of course the AD I bought it from won't do it as it violates their agreement with Rolex to deliver unaltered watches (in fact they looked at me like I was crazy. SMH at all these lemmings). I'm now looking for a jeweler to brush the whole watch. From my research, it seems like it's a pretty easy process. I know from seeing other brushed gold watches that this is going to look amazing.

A Member here has indeed brushed the gold centre links of his TT sub and I thought it looked great from the pictures.
Maybe a search of the forums will reveal all. |

Not my pictures, but I saved them from that thread. I always save unique looking things because who knows when I’ll find it again. |

That's a terrible suggestion. Lots of people hate PCLs and buy sub bracelets or get them brushed, precious metal is no different. LA Watch Works do a great job of this. Don't be so dramatic.

and if you decide to do it, you do not need professional to make it satin brush finished. buy Bergeon 5444, brush your bracelet with grade B first and then finished with grade A. Voila.. ! all the PCL become brushed |

I think the brushed gold PCL’s look really good and it’s a pity that a Rolex don’t offer it as OEM.
But I could never bring myself to do it.

I wouldn't do it. The gold PCL's look great on the watch and take away the beauty of it (imo). Plus when you brush these metals, you lose material altogether. Something worth thinking about.

I've put my BLNR on my sub bracelet plenty of times and much prefer it but I understand others prefer the bling of PCLs. If we all liked the same thing it would be boring! |

I would not do it. Buy the Tudor TT and you have the flat or brushed finish.

Thanks for the tip...but, I may DIY it. There are videos on Youtube showing the process and honestly, it doesn't look difficult. If I mess up then it's very easy to take it to a jeweler to polish it up on the buffing wheel. The downside is, as a few of you mentioned, that you irreversibly remove gold.
I think the risk is worth it though. When I look at photos of vintage gold Rolex in all brushed/matte cases and bracelets, I get really inspired by their beauty. |

Different strokes for different folks so do what you want to do. Personally, I would never do this.
