Thanks DSSD, we had a good run

Albeit a short one. I suppose I better explain.

I first purchased a SubC date and had the watch for a little over a year. I thought I needed a date back then, but the cyclops always bothered me. Having toyed with the idea of modding the watch with a clean crystal, I finally opted to flip the 116610 for a 114060. This was an instant symmetrical love, but the DSSD was always at the back of my mind, and it kept lurking there, slowly growing on me. I then caved and flipped the Sub for a DSSD. This from someone who never considered himself a flipper. Ha.

I owned the DSSD for about 3 months, and tried to wear it as much as possible. It proved to be a fantastic weekend piece for me, but I truly wanted the star diver in the collection to be my daily. I had no problem with the diameter of the watch, but it's height (thickness) and weight bothered me constantly when I wore the watch for prolonged periods.

Well, I finally decided to admit it wasn't working and had the "it's not you, it's me" talk with my DSSD. I'm swallowing my pride and running back to my 114060 like the guy who finally figured out he should never have let that foxy lady get away. I hope she takes me back.

Anyways, when I think back, I really have no regrets on all the flipping - having experienced these three watches, and not only for a brief time at an AD, is what allowed me to finally make my mind about which diver was perfect for me.

Thanks a lot, DSSD, I hope we can stay friends

I did. Actually, my initial thought was to flip the DSSD for the SD4k. However, the difference in height between the Sub and the SD4k is still pretty substantial (12.5 mm vs. ~15.5 mm). Besides, after pondering that for a bit, I concluded that I really liked the Sub's glossy dial more, preferred to put the almost 4k price difference towards another watch and didn't mind not having the date (just look at that symmetry ).

The DSSD is a terrific watch, it just wasn't exactly what I was looking for. I'm certain it will be very happy with someone else, and I wish it all the best in life.

I had a DSSD for a few days until I traded it. I called it PUNK because it felt like I had a Hockey Puck taped on my wrist. It was so top heavy your wrist would start to go numb after a few hours ...

I hear you, Duey, it is not for everyone. An amazing piece, though.

What a great post! Thank you for sharing your experience with these great pieces. I too have struggled with whether to buy a DSSD - something always holds me back.

Good luck to you and your new/old friend

Thanks, Brian. It took me long to decide between these watches, and I think the only way to make the right choice is maybe wear a watch with similar proportions to the DSSD for a while before pulling the trigger. If you only plan to wear it eventually, it's a whole other story and I have nothing but praise for the watch!

I really feel like I did. And I'm glad I did it, otherwise it would always linger on the back of my mind as an "what if..."

Leica, I always stop for a second to look at the pictures of your new watch. That particular photo is phenomenal!

I had my DSSD for about 4 years. Get the SD4000, it's the perfect diver

Good that you changed back , you have to love it, otherwise it's a waste.
I have my DSSD for a month now and it has not left my wrist. Regarding the weight I wish it was in Platina

The 114060 is constantly tapping me on the shoulder, wanting to be the fourth watch in my three-watch plan...

Great story. At least you know what you want and experienced it so you can relax and enjoy the 114060. I absolutely love mine. I have a DJ II I hardly wear because I love wearing the 114060 so much. It's like the perfect watch to me.

Amazing Picture! I considered it, but as explained above the Sub's thin profile and glossy dial won me over.

I would need to lift weights for a while before being able to sport a Pt. DSSD

I have been fortunate enough to go through almost all of the SS sports models over the years, some more than once. It's really helped me know what I truly like and want.

For me, I ended up with the SD-C/SD4000/SD4K... or whatever you want to call the 116600...being my absolute favorite. The others have stayed on the winder a lot more lately as a result.

Yeah, it's taller but I would say you really should try it on to see if that extra 3mm means much to you.
