1987 Rolex 5513 9.4 Million Submariner No Date Sub Full Set Unpolished Cream Patina
For sale is an excellent condition as found and fresh to market 40mm stainless steel Rolex Submariner No Date. The 9.4 million serial 5513, was originally retailed by C.D Peacock on April 15th, 1987, while the back of its original warranty paper contains a red letter Rolex USA shipment stamp from March 27th, 1987, and is accompanied by its original boxes and papers set. Included in the box and papers set are: inner and outer Rolex boxes, the original dated warranty papers, a serialized hang tag, a letter from Rolex USA detailing the excellence that comes with purchasing a COSC certified Rolex from C.D Peacock, the business card of the sales associate who retailed the watch, an instruction manual, a silver Rolex anchor, an extra link, a manual holder, and a black manual spacer card. At the time the 5513 was retailed, C.D Peacock was owned by the Canadian based conglomerate Henry Birks Jewellers, which is why the retailer on the warranty paper is stamped “Henry Birks JLRS INC”, as opposed to “C.D. Peacock”.
The Rolex features a brushed steel case, which is accented by an unidirectional steel divers bezel that is set with a black insert. The Submariner is mounted on its original 93150 brushed steel Oyster bracelet that is stamped with a “J12” clasp code, which corresponds to a production date of December 1985. The Oyster bracelet currently contains 11 full size links, and will comfortably fit a 7.35 inch wrist in its current configuration, but is accompanied by an additional link, which is not currently installed. The Rolex features a black glossy dial with applied polished 18 karat white gold surround tritium coated hour markers and polished tritium coated hands. The tritium lume plots, hands, and bezel pip have aged exceptionally well and acquired a stunning even golden cream colored patina. The case has stood the test of time exceptionally well and appears unpolished, as it retains super thick even lugs, which retain crisp chamfers and strong brush lines, while the teeth on the divers bezel remain razor sharp and crisp. The Oyster bracelet has also stood the test of time exceptionally well and also appears unpolished, retaining crisp bush lines, while the coronet on the clasp is thick and crisp. The Oyster bracelet contains minimal stretch and remains in approximately 90% plus condition. The dial, hands, and bezel insert all remain flawless with no imperfections, while the watch’s acrylic crystal contains some faint surface level hairlines, which could easily be buffed off. Overall the Rolex is in excellent condition, and is an honest as found example of a late 1980s 5513, which is accompanied by an extensive box and paper set, thus making it even more special !
