Any one like the Wimbledon dial?

It seems like the datejust Wimbledon is always available. What's your thoughts?

I know it is a very popular dial, but it's not my cup of tea.

while I do love the slate color, I prefer plain old, boring stick markers.

that's how my DJ41 is. Slate dial with stick markers.

I thought it looked absolutely awful, & even said so on here on more than one occasion.

Then I saw the watch below in person at my AD - and mind was blown. First time I’d seen one in real life. Had to have it & got it shortly after. Lifetime keeper that one.

I think it's a beautiful dial, certainly not boring. I would add that it probably works best in a collection as opposed to a one and done watch.

Seem to be lots of the used market.... Not for me personally prefer a more traditional dial on a datejust, the Wimbledon just looks a bit too messy for me.

I saw the 36mm two-tone with jubilee that caught my eye.

I really like the yellow gold/fluted two tone. I know it's a bit polarizing because of the stick 9, but I think it's a reference with character.

I've had a few DJs in various dial configurations including blue stick, rhodium and champagne (36mm) the Wimbledon is my favorite. It's a dial that does not photograph well but in person it's one of the most beautiful dials (IMHO) out there. The way they execute the black over green on the numerals is absolutely perfect.

Personally not a fan of it and not surprised it’s one of the more easily available models.

Not a fan of two tone. Or Romans. Or the random stick nine. Or jubilee. Or fluted. This one chooses everything I don’t like and puts it on one watch!

Some people love it though so YMMV.

Wimbledon dial fan here!
I’ve got the 36mm SS fluted on jubilee and could not want any other DJ model. My wife who isn’t a watch person likes it and has even tried to wear it. Given the case size she could well wear it but there is too much of a difference in bracelet sizing to make it work without having to add/remove links.
I also like and own the current airking which I know is polarising for many. Maybe there is a correlation with Wimbledon dial fans are also airking fans…?!

I think it looks great in general, the white stick 9 seems out of place in specific.
Once seen, like square wheel wells and round tires, it can't be unseen.

For me the Wimbledon dial works best with two-tone Jubilee and fluted bezel in both rose gold and yellow gold of which I have both absolutely love them

I had it, did not bond with it, traded it in for a blue DJ II with fluted bezel, oyster bracelet.

i tired the 36mm steel version recently. I did not like it. I think I will prefer the full slate dial or perhaps mint green or azurro blue (which I had and I miss it)!

Any one like the Wimbledon dial?

I don’t normally care for Romans, but when I saw this in person, at my AD, I loved it, as did my husband. So, when I was offered it on a subsequent visit, I bought it. I wear it more often than any of my other watches, and I own a lot of watches. It’s a polarizing dial. People tend to love it or hate it. Someone suggested it’s easy to get. That is not the case. It is one of the hardest DJs to acquire, along with the mint green, according to my AD. The SAs will never refer to it as the Wimbledon. Officially it is called the Slate Roman dial:

Like most modern Rolex watches today, I'm not into it. But it seems to bring many on here joy, so I like it for that.

It is the only thing I have been offered since I started back looking at Rolex a few months back. A 36mm two tone rose gold and steel. Wasn't something I had expressed interest in so I thanked them but passed. It's a nice watch but not my cup of tea.

I tried on a few rose gold bimetal DJs , and did not like that color gold on me. Interestingly, neither did my female SA. I think, for some reason, it just did not look right with my skin tone.

I own the Wimbledon Fluted on Jubilee and love it!!

The slate dial with subtle green highlights is amazing especially in the sun.
