Which is harder to get from the AD: Sprite or Batgirl?

A friend is looking to pick up his first GMT (already has a sub). Of the 126720VTNR (Sprite) vs 126710 BLNR (Batman), which one is subjectively easier to get from the AD (both seem to be trading at very close levels on the grey now)?

Cognizant that this will vary from AD to AD and experiences but just looking to get subjective experiences from the good folks here

How long is a piece of string? The only person who can answer that with certainty is the sales assistant at your friends AD. Every authorised dealer is different, and securing the watch you want often comes down to a mix of factors—your relationship with the store, your purchase history, and sometimes just a bit of luck.

Unless your friend is buying from the grey market, this question is moot in Australia. He is getting neither.

Really no way to tell. I'd call it a coin flip.

I would have said the BLNR, but there seems to be a dramatic rise in popularity for the VTNR, so I think it's a toss up.

I have a sprite girl and it was the first one offered to me. I have have never been offered a spriteman, Pepsiman, Pepsigirl, batman or batgirl. I did get offered a butterfinger and cap'n crunch before though.

Good luck getting either one in this market. Demand for most SS sports still dramatically exceed deliveries to ADs and the list are years long (unless you are able to connect with an AD and they actually want to sell you one.) Stepping into the sell zone is the key with ADs.

I don’t think there’s a dramatic rise in VTNR popularity. I just think the BRLO became much less available.

Since 2022 when it was introduced, it’s always been somewhat love-hate due to the 180 out-of-phase controls and window.

I believe it always occupied the number three slot beneath BLNR and was a consolation.

But that’s just me

I think you see a lot more positive talk for the VTNR than you did a year ago. I won't argue that watches become more popular in part, because you can't get them. This probably helps the VTNR sales more than the BLNR.
The BLNR on jubilee seemed to be a tougher watch to get a year ago.
Weirdly, I got a BLNR on oyster (I was told I couldn't get it on jubilee) and a VTNR on jubilee within a couple of months of each other a year ago. I waited about 2 months for the BLNR and believe it or not 2 days for the VTNR after I asked for each of them.
I was shocked in both cases.

I would have to guess VTNR as the BLNR has been available for a lot longer

Customer: Look, I know how Rolex is at the moment - honestly, I do. So I'd appreciate if you'd just give me a straight answer, with no Buts of Ifs, and no games, so we both save each other time. Is that understood?

AD: Perfectly, sir.

Customer: Good. Now I want to know: how long will it take to get a BatSprite.

AD: Well ...

Customer: I THOUGHT WE AGREED: NO GAMES!

I don't disagree with you, I would add this.

They probably make fewer VTNR's than BLNR's due to the smaller theoretical market.
I think there are people out there who look at every Rolex as a potential icon piece, like the Daytona, the Hulk, the Pepsi. I think some people believe that if this ends up being the only Destro Rolex releases, and its production life is short, it could be iconic in collector's minds.
Add that to the current popularity of GMTs, the lack of availability of the BLRO's, etc., and you have a VTNR that has increased in demand, if not popularity. That doesn't mean people actually "like" the VTNR more than the BLNR. Temporarily it seems to be discussed more than it was, and harder to get than it was not too long ago.
I have both, I really like both. I'm a lefty, the VTNR is my daily, BLNR a day or two a week.

Based on experience it depends. At this moment there seems to be more sprites around than usual but generally more batgirls available historically in my area.

Anecdotally…

BLNR still immensely popular. More requested than sprite. Sprite has less units coming in when compared to the BLNR, but not as requested.

In general, the SS GMT is on fire and has held sustained peak interest when others became slightly more obtainable. The BLNR has been the gold standard since its introduction as the first bi-color ceramic bezel Rolex and has not deviated in its color variation all this time.

The VTNR is the new kid by comparison and is a lefty model which will be very polarizing to many. The average right hand buyer won’t want it but some collectors and left handers will certainly search it out. It’s a niche model for sure.

Location could be an issue with what gets allocated especially if your friend in anywhere near Melbourne or Sydney. Going pre owned is a possibility with some good independents in both cities

Depends on the AD size, mate. The relationship and spend history as things are everywhere. Usually Rolex ships in batches, so could be either or whatever is shipping now.

Best of luck!

Cheers,

VTNR is a tier harder to get than BLNR. Many more BLNR's floating around in the market (has to do with time in production but even so).

I would say BLNR, VTNR and Pepsi in terms of easiest to hardest to get from AD.

Never heard of any Rolex AD selling Sprite a fizzy soda pop in tins or bottles or comics but the 126720VTNR is the most hyped at the moment.

I got on the batman/girl waitlist back in July and my rep (same who allocated me the sub date) sat they don't get gmt2 in every shipment and that it will take at a year (which I'm fine with).

Contrary to Reddit and forums, its not like ADs get bulk of GMT2 in any shipments...in some shipments, there's not a single gmt2. Same goes daytona...these barely come and it can be months before a AD received a shipment with perhaps 1 or 2 daytona.
