1960 1003 questions
Hi all, I have a 1960 34mm 1003 that has just received a fresh service. I have a couple of questions. First is about the hands. The watch has "stick" hands which I believe may have been swapped out at some point in it's history. Does anyone know if those were even an option in 1960? All of the late 50's and many of the early 60's watches I can find online have dauphine hands.
Second question is regarding the US made Jubilee bracelet which again Im pretty sure is a later addition. Are there any tutorials (videos would be great) showing how to size them down? My wrist is about 6 1/4" so it needs to be pretty small but that should be do-able right? Lastly if the consensus is that Dauphine hands would have been original does anyone have a set (minute and hour only) that I can buy? Id rather have originals and not the repros on eBay that look a bit too shiny. Thanks! |

Welcome to the Forum! You are probably right that it came with dauphine hands. Do you know if the dial was also changed along the way? Your jubilee, is it oval links? As already mentioned, pictures would help. Plenty of folks here that can help you.. |

Welcome to the forum.
To buy the original style hands here, you can search in the Rolex parts classified section. But the pricing will be fairly high. Since it just had a service, you might go ahead and source generic dauphine hands until your next one. There is no telling big your watch’s current stick hands are OEM sticks unless the RSC did your service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

My watch is identical to a 1959 Oyster Perpetual (sold)shown on Craft And Tailored except for the hands. It is an oval link jubilee bracelet yes. I cannot yet share links or post photos but I’ll get there.
The hands are the straight stick style seen on 1980’s on OP models. I’m not sure when those started being used. Thanks |
