Incoming: My First Patek - platinum Calatrava 5196P

Yesterday, I saw the 5196P in person for the first time in the case at my AD. It was love at first sight for this unusual dial. After a sleepless night, I went back and bought it today - cannot be happier with my first Patek! Looking forward to following these threads and learning more about the brand!

Beautiful watch. Enjoy it to the fullest. And have fun with the strap game on that one, many options to be had.

Fantastic purchase. I’ve been asking my AD for this reference for awhile now with no luck.

I’ve never seen in person, and curious about the thickness. What are you initial thoughts?

Brilliant Choice

Enjoy it in good health. A fantastic example and looks great. I am waiting for my A.D. to get one. Not sure if it will materialize anytime soon.

Congratulations. My AD told me that this is no longer in production and was not able to get one from PP. You are lucky.

Amazing watch! And love the fact that you had a sleepless night over it. I totally understand what you went through. Makes it even better! Enjoy that beautiful dial and don’t forget to play with the straps… Dark blue, grey, chocolate brown… That 5196P can pull off everything.

Thanks, everyone! Really looking forward to playing with the straps with this reference, as folks have suggested. It’s indeed thin, but with a surprising heft for the thinness given the use of platinum. This is one of the features I like. It sounds as if this model will soon be discontinued, so I feel fortunate indeed to pick it up! Be well, all.

Congrats. It's the best Calatrava. Crazy that you found it in the case.

Outstanding choice. Congratulations. That’s such a beautiful watch. Phillips has a stainless Patek 570 coming up for auction and you can see the Patek DNA in your watch that goes back decades. I went with the 5196g and adore it. My AD told me the 5196P is a rare specimen and they get very few as opposed to the other 5196’s. They also told me the 5196 is discontinued according to PP
