Resell value of a Ladies Datejust 79174?

Hi there! What is the best way to determine the resell value of a watch? I’ve had a lady datejust since 2003.. I see in chrono24 them listed around $4500… but Bob’s watches and David SW only offered about half of that. Thank you!

Search on this forum for the model number in the 'for sale' section. That's the real value.

Variables:
- Materials (SS, WG, RG, YG...)
- Condition
- Box, papers?
- Diamonds?
- Fluted, smooth?
- Dial color
- Datejust or just a 'date'?

Anywhere between 3-5k is my guess.

That’s because Bobs and DSW are charging you to sell the watch on your behalf. They have to make money somehow. Don’t expect any reseller to give you market value. Plus it’s not exactly a “hot” model so they are taking some risk of the watch sitting for awhile.

Have you ever sold or traded in a used car?

If you want fast cash: sell to a trusted seller like Bobs or DSW

If you want the most money and are willing to work (advertise)/sit on it until it sells: sell yourself

There’s one for sale on Watchbox for $6,950. Has the original papers, and a two-year Watchbox warranty.

Selling to Dealer- quicker, easier safer, lower pay out
Selling Privately- slower, harder, riskier, higher pay out

You need to decide what your time, effort and exposure to risk is worth and see how that lines up with the Dealer vs Private pricing
