Rolex GMT Pepsi - I can’t believe how much I love this watch!
I’ve had quite a few watches over the years and a number of Rolex including a 116500 white dial DaytonaC, SubC,BLNR and a 16610. Lots of vintage, tons of Omega and the odd Breitling and JLC. Nothing haute horology but some nice watches.
This Pepsi is the first one and only one that has taken my breath away on just how nice it is. I am normally a 5 digit guy and a 5513 James Bond Sub or a Magnum GMT were always what drew me to Rolex but wow this thing is so nice. While the Pepsi does not have the classic shape of a pre ceramic watch the small changes to the design, especially the case/lugs with the addition of the different shaped end links of the Jubilee means the watch does not look square or too wide. It totally works and while not the classic looks, it feels wonderfully proportioned and works 100%. It is the first ceramic that goes toe to toe with a five digit and wins in my opinion on just the aesthetic look. Then we get the Jubilee. This is my first Jubilee and I have always liked the look but it is super comfortable, very tactile and the PCL suits the watch again 100%. Because the rest of the watch is quite blingy and loud I can see why Rolex have made the colours of the bezel quite subdued. Again, this works and they are unique to Rolex and not to be found on any other manufacturer. I really like the colours and Rolex have got a home run. Overall if you can get one then please do so. I don’t think anyone will be disappointed. My DaytonaC will remain my holiday, special occasion watch but I really do prefer the Pepsi more. When fellow TRF guys have said how much they have loved a watch I have not quite got it. Even with my 16610 I did not feel as smitten as I do with this Pepsi. I should not feel lucky for spending for so much money but I really do feel lucky to have this one. The only negative, not really a negative though, is that all the people I have asked prefer my Daytona! |

Congrats on the beauty but I went and saw the BLRO in person today and hate to say it that purple hue kills the insert for me.

That is a great looker. Congrats ! I'm on a list but I'm sure I'll never get the call. I have been thinking about getting an LN for awhile though. I may pull the trigger pretty soon.
