16710 for a 126334?
Putting aside potential resale value and general bias towards the GMT over the DJ41 - is it completely irrational to trade a 16710 (coke, no box & papers) for a new, full set 126334 w/ fluted bezel & oyster bracelet?
Curious to hear your thoughts and personal experiences from anyone who has been in a similar position. Mind you, it would come as no surprise to me if the overwhelming consensus is that I should keep the 16710 based on the market and demand. I am fully aware of the fact that it comes down to personal preference but would appreciate your input as I’ve been entertaining the idea. Here are some pictures for reference. Thanks in advance! 16710 is one of my favorite watches. Seems like a mistake to trade one for a new model datejust. You'll probably have to throw in a little cash as well.
I think you should keep the GMT and save up for a white gold Day Date. |

I'm fan of modern Rolex, but I think is not a good move, the 126334 would be there when you save the money, the 116710 is more expensive each year.

Keep 16710 and get jubilee bracelet on it (got mine as NOS on eBay ) being lucky and getting it changed. Will post some pic’s later. Slender case / design of 16710 with jubilee beats even new Pepsi ... have got 2005 model with SEL; wears fantastic and looks just awesome... and true is that DJ will be there and dropping value a bit overtime... except the blue dial which seems to be hot now

Absolutely keep the GMT. it's currently rare, hard to find, valuable, and will only increase in value (look at how much a 4 digit GMT, Sub, or Explorer sells for now). The TT DJ will be widely available for years to come, long enough to save up and find a good deal on a used one, or even buy it new.

If that is what you want to do, I would do it. I get that watches are sometimes out of production and will increase in value but that is a bonus not the reason I am into watches. I really like the DJ. If you get to wanting a Pepsi later go get a Tudor GMT. I love mine and have had no issues.

Beautiful DJ, but I would eventually add it. Def pass on the trade & keep the 16710.

Definitely keep the 16710, unless you really need to surf the current wave of hyped-up prices.
I would take it slow with the DJ41. It has always been one of the better available models in the collection, even in SS. A jubilee bracelet along with the fluted bezel would make the watch different enough to justify wearing DJ and GMT on different occasions. |

Keep the coke. I don’t think it’s a good move too.

Keep your 16710. It's normal to have an itch for something new and to think the grass may be greener on the other side. But you'll miss the 16710.

Before you make the decision try swapping out bezel inserts on the coke and see if that changes your perspective. I do it all the time on my gmt

There is zero chance I would make this trade. The 16710 is showing signs of being a mega investment going forward and, its such an amazing piece too.

I think it is a very good idea. Got rid of all the vintage in favour of modern Rolex myself.

Pack the 5-digit GMT Master away if you aren't in love with it and don't need to access the watch's value to get the new Datejust. I like that Datejust and it would make a great daily wearing watch. Just buy the Datejust outright.

Bad move. 5 digit gmt models continue to rise in value and the same cannot be said of any DJ as far as I’m aware. Save for the DJ and keep the GMT imho.

It might be a fair value exchange however the 16710 is a lot harder to source in the future and much less available!
It’s a matter of taste but I would keep the 16710 myself!

I think DJ41 is the better looking watch all around. I also believe DJ41 look better than the SubC or Batman just my own opinions.

If you need a more work oriented watch it is not irrational to trade. I would ,like most on this forum, want both the DJ and the GMT.

Bad idea all around. Your GMT reference is no longer in production.
However, plenty of DJs around.
