Trade Black Ceramic SS Daytona for WG Daytona on OF?

Hi all,

Have been toying with the idea of getting rid of my black ceramic SS Daytona in favor of a WG Daytona on oyster flex. Not sure which dial I would prefer - steel panda or the black diamond. Originally thought I liked the black diamond best (and would certainly make the argument to move the black ceramic SS since so similar) but a touch cautious on the diamond dial, although it's potentially more subtle than the steel panda since it lacks the contrasting subdials.

On the other hand, I guess I could keep the black ceramic SS Daytona since I already have it.

Finally, not sure whether to go gray or keep waiting on AD list. Seems like these are just falling from the sky around here lately.

Thoughts? Thank you in advance!

No to diamond black dial, yes to steel panda…. If you are trading the black SS.
I do think the black SS is a nice watch to have and would preferably not trade and add the 116519 instead.

That is good looking!

I actually find the SS Daytona doesn't fit so great. My WG Daytonas and Platona all fit better. I think the slight differences in case dimensions make the SS Daytona ever so slightly tighter, and with EZ link out it's huge.

I have both and prefer black d500, more iconic and timeless

Interesting! Every time I put on the SS I’m reminded how striking it looks. But it’s a little on the boring side. I think that’s why I’ve always been drawn to the PMs with cooler dials.

This is an easy call for me. I’m actually with you on the fit on the SS,. The WG on OF and Platona fit better than the SS i think bc of the weight. The Plat esp (it basically doesn’t budge)

My thought on the SS black.... its gorgeous in my hand but it becomes a bit boring on the wrist. The WG on steel dial is striking! My Blaktona will be leaving as soon as my YG Daytona on OF finally arrives.

I agree with this sentiment. Good in photos, but on the wrist OF way less boring over the long haul.

Keep your black SS Daytona and add steel panda WG OF. They would make a great pair!

No, I would keep the 116500, it’s the more versatile watch

I wouldn’t do it.

Not that the WG isn’t nice, because it is….but I still wouldn’t let the black ceramic SS go to get it.

Well I guess I’m in the minority here

Having owned quite a few Daytona’s including a black 500 and Chocolate dial 515 I say hell yes I’d do it.

Not the diamond dial though. Both have ceramic dials. Kinda look the same. You’re essentially giving up a SS bracelet for a WG case and buckle. To that I say yes

As much as I like the 500 (dont own it…yet) the 519 is just so amazing how the dial pops in different lighting and the contrast between the dial, subdials and the OF is just amazing

The black 116500 is my favorite in the current Daytona line so that's a no for me.

Much prefer the SS and also, one of the best parts of Rolex ownership is the bracelet IMHO.

SS black and OF Panda would be an amazing pair! I have the black 500 and wouldn’t trade for the OF even if the dial is one of the most beautiful of the Daytona range. Just because I prefer a metal bracelet that is more versatile.

I just wonder if you'll miss having the bracelet option on the Daytona. OF is nice, but I think I still prefer it on bracelet. For me I'd hold onto the black ceramic.

I already have the black SS non-ceramic and a black dialed 116509. So was thinking the OF would change things up a little.

While I’ve never had a Rolex on OF, I would have to agree.

I also used to have a Patek 5167 Aquanaut and sort of liked the rubber for a low key look.

The PM on rubber with panda dial for me. The comfort and versatility of rubber with the shine of gold... How is it even a comparison?
