Your favorite <39mm divers?
The title says it all: I'm curious to know what smaller (maybe 36-39mm) divers folks like---preferably under $1k, but that's less crucial.
I'm drawn to the Seiko SNE575. (38.5mm) I currently own a Vaer D4 Atlantic. (38mm) The Hamilton Khaki Navy Scuba (37mm) is a cool white-dial option. So is the Baltic Aquascaphe. (39mm) All of these come in various color-schemes, of course. Bit more money, but I'm tempted, too, by some of the older Seamaster divers (back when they were 36.25mm), which I'd have to get preowned. (Nowadays, of course, there's the Planet Ocean 39.5mm, but that's pushing it a bit, sizewise, and a lot moneywise. Suppose I'd say the same for the Tudor BB58. (39mm) Tag Heuer (a brand about which I have some ambivalence) has a very attractive silver/white-dial Aquaracer in 36mm, but it's way overpriced for what it is (probably $2k above what I'd pay for it), and they seem to be marketing it as a woman's watch--I know that, for some, 36mm straddles the gender-line. Any other recommendations from forumgoers? (There are online articles and videos, of course, but I'm curious about what TRFers think.) |

Longines and Oris both have smaller divers. Seem to recall some from Rado, too, but not sure actual depth rating. If quartz is on the table, Tissot Seastar.

Quartz is definitely on the table, as this would be a bike-ride/lawn-mow beater.
Thanks for these! |

My son got a 39mm Longines Hydro Conquest for his 18th from my parents. It really is an excellent diver for under £1000.

Oh, not sure how I could forget this one: Glycine Combat Sub 36. Yes, some stores market it as a women's watch, but absolutely nothing feminine about it. At least one retailer, Ashford.com, typically has them for under $400.
Also the Certina DS Action Diver. Seen their watches online in a few places, but not sure they're officially sold in the U.S. |
