Speedmaster ‘57
I’m really digging this piece. Would love to hear from anyone that owns this.
Is this something that could replace your Speedy professional or something that compliments it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Really great watches to be honest. Good dimensions and great colors. Bottom line a phenomenal job at creating a modern speedy with nods from the original 2915. Far better work with this one vs the Seamaster IMO. That one requires more refinement. I think they are a great complement.

I love them. Don’t have one yet but it’s only a matter of time.

This is a tough one for me, as I love it in pictures.
I had the chance to see all the colors at the Omega Boutique here last summer, and I was completely underwhelmed. Unfortunately for me, the colors just didn’t have the same vibrancy in real life, they looked almost washed out. I also didn’t like the engraved bezel as much as I hoped. |

I was in an Omega AD the other day and they had all the colors. I prefer green. Did not try it on though.

Those are stunning, I've always liked them. Although I own neither, to me it wouldn't be something I replace a Speedmaster Professional moon watch with. It would have to be part of the collection, but that's just me.

Haven't seen the blue in person but the green and red colors were quite washed out compared to pictures or flattering videos under intense artificial lights or outside on a sunny day. Ironically, the black dial looked the most interesting and ''popped'' the most due to the matte black and faux patina sandwiched indecises.
Case size, thickness and lug widths are all well proportionned but the bracelet feels very dainty and there is almost no micro-adjustment on the clasp. It seems like Omega has tried to make a Speedmaster that is more jewellery (lots of polished surfaces) than tool watch as to not cannibalize their Moonwatch sales figures. The bezel also misses the mark, the engravings on the tachymeter scale are very faint and subtle. I think Omega could have made them more legible without making them too loud and obnoxious like the generation 1 of the '57. I would not have issues owning both the Moonwatch and a '57, but I would try to get one at 40% off MSRP on the secondary market preowned in very good condition. I think this release is more for people who are more fans of vintage inspired chronographs but wish to benefit from modern construction materials/production techniques. |

Own black. Love it. See it as a sub for a speedy rather than complement. At least the black dial. If I ever get a 321 allocated to me we’ll see if it stays. But it’s a fantastic watch. Part of me says save the dough and just keep this one if the call ever comes.

Some mechanical chronograph calibers are attractive for their beautiful architecture, but I'm finding this new Omega caliber hard to warm up to in that way.

Saw this in a boutique. Looked....fine. Wears slightly bigger than a regular moonwatch.
I thought the colors looked okay. Love the thinness, a step in the right direction. Hate the straight lugs. |

I found it a bit meh. Dial not captivating and the size with the lugs is tough. I would agree
a 42mm Speedmaster actually wears better |

I had the old ver but gave it to my father in law, it was too thick for me.

It's great to hear that you're loving this piece. As for replacing your Speedy Professional or complementing it, it ultimately depends on your personal style and preferences. Both watches have their unique features, so it's up to you to decide how they fit into your collection.

I have the red dial one - great watch. Wore it today when I headed into the boutique to check on progress with delivery of my snoopy - still no date in sight

I don't own one but I tried one on last year and really loved it. It's incredibly comfortable. Just about perfect size. The bracelet it buttery smooth and with the taper you barely know it's there. As for the muted colors, that was sort of the intention. This wasn't supposed to be an in-you-face sharp color dial. It's supposed to invoke a classic look and a big bright blue wouldn't look right IMO. If you want a big bold sharp blue or green, there are plenty of other watches you can get that from. I think the dials they use are more unique, more elegant looking. And, the addition of the date window is a big plus to me. I still struggle with no-date watches.
As for this vs a Moonwatch in a collection. I'm the type of enthusiast where each watch sort of occupies a particular category. So for me, one chronograph is enough. I would not have both this and a Moonwatch together, but I'm sure many others would. I find this watch to be punching at a much higher weight class than a normal MW. I think it's a step up for those who may tire or become bored with a moonwatch. This is the black sandwich dial I tried on. Has plastics on keep in mind. |
