Anyone ever convert (custom) their Rolex to be fixed bar?
Was thinking of modding a 15670 Explorer II to be fixed bar. Wondering if this has ever been done?

Let's us know? I'd like to add fixed bars to a sub.

Already been done by Rolex
No need for someone to laser weld a bar through a subs lugs just buy a MilSub https://www.watchfinder.co.uk/articl...ure-the-milsub |

Like the 5517 look with welded "spring" bars?

I feel like with extra strong shoulderless spring bars you have achieved a close enough similarity without making an irreversible change to the watch.

That’s NATO dedication.

Yup, thick shoulder-less spring bars would be the best option if you just want the nato to be more secure (and not snag and drag out the bars, which often seems the be the case with photos showing how the other bar 'saved' the watch). You can just remove them with wire cutters when you want to go back to bracelet or whatever (assuming your 16570 case doesn't have holes).

Would be interested to see if you take this on, OP. Can always be cut off and re-drilled in the future, easily enough. Most don't like these modifications but I often wear my Subs on a NATO and have considered the same thing :)

Was on a weeklong float in the Idaho wilderness, with my 216570 on Everest rubber. Cousin with Tudor FXD fixed bar. Lightness of titanium was nice, barrier on wrist with nato seemed to be nicer while paddling.
I much prefer GMTs, so thinking I can replicate with a smaller diameter 16570. Thinking of looking for a fairly well used model that’s in need of a refinish to experiment. Will report back. |

Don't.
You will grow to hate NATOs. Trust me on this. |

NATOs, and Tattoos too. The NATO is easier to remedy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I wouldn't.
It restricts you to only feed-through straps unless you undo it. Neither mod nor fix are simple operations.
