Waiting time for FP Journe Elegante 40mm?

Any ideas or experience with wait times for the 40mm Elegante? I did see a previous thread about the waitlist but I didn’t see anything specific regarding the 40mm version. I am in the US, have no prior history with the brand, and do not live near a boutique. I do plan to make a visit at some point in the near future but won’t be able to visit regularly. Thank you.

Even in the current weak watch market FPJ can sell every watch that make so to buy this watch from the dealer they allocate the watches to people that are willing to join in on watch meets and events. You certainly don't need to turn up every month, especially as you do not live close, but if you really want to get one of these watches from the AD I advice that you do your best to join in every now and again that your schedule allows.

I am not trying to put you off in anyway, but they way allocations work at FPJ is genuinely different to other watch brands and they choose to act this way. Also because demand is so high they can afford to. If you are not prepared to put in the effort to get to know the AD and your fellow collectors then you might find it difficult to get the watch so you may find the grey market a better option.

I think they do this to vet collectors in terms of being enjoyable people to do business with and also to weed out some of the speculators at least as best they can. Personally I think their approach transparent, fair and I genuinely enjoy and look forwards to the interactions.

Finally the 40mm Elegante is still obtainable. I've heard that the larger model has closed interest lists for now. Not sure what the current wait is... might vary by market. But regardless it is not a watch that I've ever been interested in personally. I like the tonneau shape, but I'd rather get a first gen Cartier Tortou Monopusher for similar money.

I had a chance to try on both. 6.5” wrist and the 40mm wears pretty small for me. Everyone different, but for me it would be the 48. Which I think lowers my odds of getting one greatly.

If you have a larger wrist i would strongly recommend looking at a 48. The 40mm is very small in person.

Looking at the gray market is a reasonable option. Fpj makes around 900 mechanical watches and around 300 Elegante.

It may be a long time before you would get a call for a 40 or 48
