One Fine Rolex Sub Gilt Underline
http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/whats-s...istmas-watches
Hey Guys: Found this on HODINKEE this morning. Truly, one of the finest quality early 5513 subs I have ever seen. Although the case bevels appear to have been "touched up", I would certainly accept it as a birthday gift!! Enjoy.

Beautiful watch! Matthew Bain was asking $75k for the NOS watch. That is such a premium for condition, there is no way in the world I would enjoy(wear) the watch. So it would have definitely been a pass for me. But still an amazing example!
Here is that lug and pointed crown guard.

Very VERY nice!
If I was a billionaire, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But honestly, for me 75K is too much. Awesome example though, that you won't see in every elevator.

To my knowledge SWISS only was anything before 1964. The atomic energy commission passed laws restricting the amount of radiative luminous on dials after '64. Hence the Radium Girls. This is an underlined dial, which most speculate, signifies that the dial has Tritium plots instead of the earlier Radium, while the dial is still labeled Swiss. (Not the later Swiss - T<25) I'm sure someone can chime in who knows far more than I do...

I guess my Swiss only underline 4 line 5512 was a steal then...Just saying.
And case not polished or refinished to make look new...JMHO.

I think it was NOS. Really killer piece, but If I bought it, I'd have to wear it.
