Looks legit to me. 1950s maybe? The only thing I find odd is they don't list the model number and serial series in the ad, that's usually a given with a Rolex.

Main things to look for on eBay - Seller (in this case, a reputable brick and mortar jeweller with near perfect feedback), good photos (check), accurate info and detailed description (eh...). service records (nil), box and papers (nil).

I would call them directly and ask about the watch, find out the history. Keep in mind it had a cheap replacement strap (which is the wrong size). That takes off a significant amount of the value of a vintage watch.

I would call the store. La Jolla is a high end town in San Diego North County.

Only saw La Jolla Jewelers--being originally from SoCal and having a brother who
went to UCSD La Jolla--I know that there are no stores carrying fakes in that town!!!
The watch looks real though--Still would call them if truly interested.

Seller seems legit. I e-mailed asking about Model/Serial number and still waiting for a reply. Is the price fair?

I also read something about some scam involving Tudors with rolex dials or something? LOL possible Tudor?

After seeing the watch, I think you can do better. Check around TRF and see what we have. Make sure you check out the TRF sellers who have been around for a long time, with lots of sales.

one thing is that I prefer no date/day and I like the look of a gold watch with a leather strap. I don't like 2 tone watches. I am pretty set on this watch but I don't like how I didn't get the serial/model number from the buyer... If people were fairly confident it wasn't a fake. I'd order it right now.

The model is stamped on the case back and shown in the photo. There are two model numbers shown , 6567 and 6564. You might have to do a search to see which is appropriate for an 18k Oyster Perpetual.

The strap looks a bit small on it. It should be a 19mm strap. Price seems a bit high too, but listing has the make an offer option. For their asking price you could probably get a nicer watch with a bit of looking.

That is a few thousand dollars watch and they could not be bothered with getting the serial number for you.
All they did was give you a general idea of 1960's.
If you get the watch and have a problem they will undoubted give you the general "read the description" and refuse to communicate with you further.
Yes they are high end and give little time for interested and serious buyers.
Can you imagine what will happen if you get the watch only to find out the case back came from another watch?

Seller has been around for a long time. I've spoken with them by phone a number of times. I would buy from them without worry. They are bricks and mortar. You can walk in the front door and have coffee. Some here tend to forget that unlike a private seller, they have a staff to pay. Payroll taxes, etc. It takes money to keep the heat and lights on too. Thus, they have to have a higher margin than a private seller. Think I'm kidding ? Ask Mosco Nobody gave him or his other squat. It costs them $$ to run their b & M store. Host the store web site and so forth.
