Candy Pink 36mm OP: Impossible?

One of the watches I’ve been eyeing is the Candy Pink 36mm OP.

Seeing that it goes grey for 15K+ and it’s only a $5800 USD watch clued me in that it was a very very hard model to get.

When I went to multiple ADs to register my interest for a Datejust I also asked about that watch. 2 of them said they had literally never seen that watch ever in their time as an AD. One had been a salesperson for 5 years, the other for longer.

So this brings me to my question: has anyone actually gotten this watch, and are you a whale?

You can probably tell by my username that I would love this particular color haha.

Unless they’re a very very small AD in an area with a small population, they have definitely seen it. That said, it’s probably not a very easy color to get right now but as demand dies down it will get easier. I’d keep bringing it up to them and try to explain why you want it and that may help your case

Dang. I’m almost positive I saw one in a case in NYC when I was there last August

I was lucky get a pink op36 for my wife. She’s worn it to other ADs in the area and they are always impressed. Say they’ve only seen one or two since it was released.

I purchased an OP36 pink for my daughter from the AD this year. I had been on a waitlist for about 14 months.
Funny thing is that I got the Tiffany 36 for my other daughter after only 10 months.
Purchase history at the AD was a couple of BB58’s.

I completely believe your ad may never have seen one. My local never saw a single yellow 41 before they were discontinued.

I think the white/Roman markers dj 36 with smooth bezel is a nicer piece than the pink op. The dial lacquer finish is the same as the coloured op and this year’s dj seem to have anti reflective coating under the crystal so the dial ‘pops’ nicely, same as the op. You also get the option of a Jubilee bracelet.

And you might even get one!

I’ve gotten two of them One for each of my daughters. They came almost a year apart. I’m not a whale but do have great relationship with my AD and SA. My observation is that the fact that there are only 48 for sale on C24 in this soft market tells me that ADs don’t get too many of them.

Most of the other impossible watches to get from ADs have all seen their quantities for sale on C24 more than double in past 6 months. With Daytonas sporting over 1K for sale. These have stayed pretty constant.

Best of luck OP in getting one. Be patient and persistent. I’ve been waiting almost 4 years for a blue Sky Dweller

My AD told me the same. They have never seen a Candy Pink dial. I trust them as well. They have been good to me.

When the “new OP” was introduced in late 2020 there were five sizes offered in up to seven colors so yes they were all pretty rare. Selection was cut back in March of this year but still lots of variations so colors with high demand will still be relatively tough to get.
I got my Coral Red 41 after a six month wait a month before it was discontinued. My SA told me our high volume Boutique got a total of 12 of those over 18 months.

I've been asking my AD for the Candy pink OP36 for 18 months now, I said it was for my wife for her 40th. I'm still waiting and nothing. My SA says she just never sees them, my bet its one of those watches the store owners or Managers handle give to their VIPs.

Certain watches will never fall into the hands of your average SA at a Rolex boutique or AD.

Ok good to know, thanks everyone for the responses.

From what I can see, while not impossible, it would be impossible *for me* who is not a whale or VIP haha.

Maybe one day in the future this watch will be obtainable!

Sorry to bump this old thread. I'm thinking of trying to get one in 36". My logic is I can wear it until I get bored of it and then give it to my wife .

I'm able to get on a VIP list (I'm not a VIP, but a friend is) so probably can get it quickly. I'll post again if/when I get it.

it is a model that's stores can request as an allocation. That's how i got mine. It's so under rated as a man's watch.

Hey Kat, when I first got into this hobby I never considered having a colorful dialed watch, specially pink or purple.

The more watches I collect, the more I am lusting over one of these colors. I’ve been eyeing a magenta tag or a purple grand seiko! A splash of color is a welcome addition to any collection.

No not really, just steroetyping getting in the way of having fun while at the same time insulting others. Maybe unintentional but sometimes editing ourselves works out better. I’ve typed a response and then just hit cancel if it doesn’t add something positive to the comversation.

It’s a great colour.

Indoors it has a v slight blue/cool touch to it, not quite its best. Out in the sun I think it’s perfect, one of the nicest dials Rolex make.

I do wish they’d make it in 41 though. For 6’7” guys ;)
