5326G as first Patek from AD

Hello TRF - I have recently become enamored with the 5326G. I noticed on chrono24 that it is selling very close to MSRP (approximately 5% over). There is one AD in my city but I do not have a relationship with them yet. Would it be reasonable to request this as a first piece from the AD and expect to receive it? I am not in a rush, happy to wait as long as reasonably necessary but I do not have any interest in buying jewelry or other watches from the AD to obtain this as I would just go grey if that was the expectation. However, since the grey price is so close to MSRP, I would love to start down the path of acquiring more pieces in the future from this AD so that is why I would prefer to purchase from the AD, if it makes sense to do so. Thanks in advance for any thoughts!

I have observed the same in terms of grey pricing be right around or slightly above retail. That being said it seems like a reasonable first watch to get from your AD as a first Patek. Just go and ask. It’s not like you are asking for a nautilus / aquanaut

I think you'd have a decent shot at that model ... my AD offered me one and I hadn't even expressed an interest so I don't think it's a fast mover in the current market.

correct. actually, no non-aquanaut non-nautilus model is currently a fast mover in the market. that is the new reality and still some ADs play scarcity games with non-sports models. i wonder whether it is wishful thinking or sales tactics.

Both. Had a clowny sales person at Vancouver Maison Birk tell me their calatravas were hard to come by. Even ladies ones. Laughable.

I expressed interest with a local AD since the 5326’s release in 2022. I was given the runaround by them even with multiple Patek purchases from them.

I finally started making offers to a few grey dealers late last year. I was offering MSRP+tax and none would budge. Patience paid off and I was finally able to snag an unworn 2024 for 79.5 last month.

I’d ask around to a few ADs. If they play their usual games just go grey, I suspect the price will continue going down.

HIGHLY recommend it. I have loved mine since receiving it.

Like Rolex, Patek Philippe represents a significant percentage of the sales of any multi-brand authorised dealer, and I suspect they sell all of their stock, some with more talent than others. I recently had the opportunity to handle a 5370on display at my nearest AD and the -junior- sales assistant kept referring to 5172, even when I enquired about the central crown pusher for the split seconds chronograph.
Buy what you like and are happy to spend. If you are smitten by this reference and since it is in the current catalogue, I would contact PP AD’s around, make your serious interest be understood by a senior sales person, and wait.

Wait to buy from your local AD. It is a very nice watch but like many have said most Patek strap watches are not fast movers and it isnt a cheap watch at $78,950 + tax. Like others here have stated many SAs will try to say how scarce this reference is but watches at this price point do not fly off the shelf. After this purchase I would think you would be eligible for some more difficult references. Congrats in advance!

This.

The model is great but not that in demand (esp seeing it'll be $86k out the door) and the heyday of watches has definitely come to a close.

Have some patience and you'll already have a decent spend history

Brand new 2024 sold in Moda a few days ago. Listed for $75k and sold within a few hours. My guess is this reference will become easier to acquire at an AD so wait it out if you do want to go the AD route, or negotiate with some dealers.

I paid MSRP for mine a few months back. It’s been my daily wearer for the last few weeks and I absolutely love it. Couldn’t care less about the resell value.
