Which strap?
I’m looking to buy a Moonwatch, but uncertain which strap to get.
Bracelets are nice in formal situations, but am leaning towards nylon or rubber or leather. Rubber looks good, but am concerned about being sweaty on the summer. Leather is nice, but could be too ‘dressy’ and less ‘sporty’ Nylon looks ideal, but does it look a little ‘downmarket’ after some use? Any thoughts from owners on what they are actually like in day-to-day usage would be appreciated. |

Most buyers would purchase a new Speedmaster Pro on the bracelet and then purchase straps separately. Some day you might want to wear it on the bracelet.
As for straps, I prefer the OEM black calf and deployant clasp that are currently standard on the Speedmaster Pro with sapphire crystals. It's smooth, black calfskin, so not overly dressy but still classy enough to partner with the Speedmaster. I don't have many photos of mine, but here's one: I also enjoy OEM black alligator and deployant. I'm guessing these are dressier than you would prefer. I haven't owned or tried one yet, but I'm guessing you might find just the right vibe with the OEM black fabric strap and deplyant that are currently standard on the Speedmaster Pro with a Hesalite crystal. Not my watch or photo, but here's a decent image of it: You can purchase all of these directly from Omega, and in UK you're also fortunate to have a stockist called Swiss Watch Spares, who specializes in OEM Omega bracelets, straps, and clasps/buckles. He has tons of stuff in stock, so I recommend checking his web site and perhaps contacting him to discuss options. |

Which strap?
I bought it on the bracelet but after a while switched to Omega Rally strap with deployant.

Thanks. Buying on a bracelet and then adding a strap does seem logical

Definitely bracelet and rubber. I wear the rubber in summer. I like the leather straps but it limits where you can wear it. No swimming or hot/humid conditions.

I put a racing style( without holes) black leather on mine. A casual leather. Love it. I also have the OE fabric strap, but like the leather much better. The kind with the small hump down center. I am nowhere near water when I wear mine. I struggle with photos on TRF, sorry.

The right Leather can be very sporty.
My experience with nylon is without exception they begin to smell quickly once they get wet. Erika’s makes interesting straps. Currently I am using a a canvas strap by Barton’s. Surprisingly I have been showering and wearing in the hot sun, it does not take on any oder (unlike nylon straps) Very nice quality and they come in black. For what it’s worth my favorite looking strap on my speedy was red leather.

Definitely buy it on a bracelet as the aftermarket cost of a bracelet (from Omega), should you ever decide you want one, is more than when buying it originally so configured. I love it on a dark brown leather strap which wears more casually, or a slightly glossy black alligator strap, which wears dressier.
As you already know, the watch is known as a “strap monster” and you might even get your OB/AD to include one in at the time of purchase.
