I'm thinking about diving with my Yacht-Master

Any thoughts on diving with my Yacht-Master? Why not, it sure is water proof enough, bezel is correct, looks cool. Any thought or downsides out there???

If it hasn't been pressure tested in a year or two you might want to get it done, otherwise why not? (FYI to be truly considered a dive watch the bezel needs to be unidirectional but as long as someone you are with has a dive computer or proper dive watch there is not much chance for trouble). Take pics if you can!

How deep do you expect to go? If it is deeper than any normal human being has ever been, perhaps your question is a fair one.

Assuming it's seals are up to par (as with any Rolex) your YM should be just fine to accompany you on the dive.

i think it will be perfectly fine, given your watch is recent (or recently pressure tested), and you are doing general sports diving. (30 to 40 feet depth?)

but to me, in the case there might be danger of damaging or losing a high value watch, a cheap $75 G-Shock is a nice *insurance* and good peace of mind. not to mention you will have a beater for your other watch-beating activity :-)

it's good for 100 meters, unless you're diving in the Marianas Trench, it should be ok!

Be careful not to breach 100 m and if you're at the bottom, be careful not to get it scratched. Otherwise, happy diving!

The watch is up to it if that is what you want to wear, but don't rely on it as your dive watch...

The Bezel is NOT correct. It just looks the same, but it is bi-directional, so it can move/be bumped in the wrong direction...

I was with a friend diving with Yacht Master down to somewhere 40m and it's fine.
You'd normally have your pressure meter for more accurate reading on the depth.

I know it's up to the task, and I dive on computer anyway. I just wanted any thought on if anyone thinks is a poser thing to do.
I have 3 subs, a DSSD, and a BP Fifty-Fathoms and all have been down with me.

I was just thinking it may be sort of cool to dive with the YM.

I have a Citizen 200M Automatic ISO DIVER that I would use for diving, but that's just me.

Dont worry about swimming with a YM, I swim with my DJ on. The gaskets are in good working order, freshly overhauled it works fine. Its a Rolex they get wet.

up for consideration: the bi-directional bezel and keeping close to the surface... probably not the best idea, better to compliment the sub/dssd/sd with a digital one... two is always better than one, especially when your life counts on it...

I would rather wear a RADO than a digital watch.

The YM is plenty deep enough, the bezel is the only real concern.

When I took up diving this year, I did a little research on the web and found that the general recommendation is that for diving use, a watch should be rated 200m and above, even though we are not suppose to go below 40m. So I bought a Citizen Titanium diver for $200 which has been fabulous.

Personally, I do not want to have to worry about my Rolex while on the boat or in the water, but that's just me. And my insurance agent said I can't get insurance cover over here for when the watch is out of the house!

Thanks for the thoughts everyone. I think I'll just keep diving with a rotation between my Sub's, DSSD, and BP Fifty Fathoms. I'll keep my YM topside.

note to self: Maybe I have too many choices
