Icon13 Replacing Daytona sapphire crystal..

Just interested in seeing if anyone has replaced the sapphire crystal on their Daytona and if so the approx cost (at an AD). After using and abusing my Sub on a daily basis for over ten years with not a mark on the original glass I have recently discovered that I have a tiny chip on my "M" model (2 1/2 yrs old) Daytona at about the 0130 mark. I did it about two weeks after I bought it (damn doorway...gggrrrr) and never realised till I was cleaning it and my finger nail snagged on what I thought was a spec of dust. It is only visible on really close inspection and doesn't detract from the watch and I know some on here will say it adds "character" but to me it just niggles because I love this watch and it took me a long time to afford it. I am not going to rush out and change it I was just interested in IF I did what would the cost be, I have asked at the AD I bought it from but got told that I would have to bring the watch in for and estimate? Anyway what do you guys reckon? Cheers

Myself would not worry about it till service time if it needs changing it will be done then. But at service time there would be no labour charge as they have strip watch down to service it,as for cost well a sub crystal costs around £75 to buy cannot see a Daytona costing any more.

i can understand the "frustration" of a chipped crystal. i have managed to find one at about 4:30 location of my M serial LV no idea how/where it happened

as for the Daytona, i'd thought it is prone to chip as the crystal is abit higher than the bezel....

my plan is to wear the LV as is and let the service/RSC take care of it when the time is right

I agree the sapphire seems to stick up further on the Daytona than the Sub, I also think service time in 4-5 years will be the time to replace it...still bugs me though

If changed during service at RSC it will add about $150 for the cost of the crystal. If you get it done at an AD that has their own in-house service person without any other service, they usually run around $250+/- which covers the cost of the OEM crystal and their labor charge.
