…so how has your collection changed in 2023?

With another year coming to an end, how has your collection changed over the previous twelve months? Since getting my Pepsi in 2022, I added nothing this year.

Thank you for reading…

2023 has been rather low key for me compared to 2022. Added these 2 in April and July respectively. Although offered quite a few but most of them were either redundant or did not resonate with me much.

I consolidated down to three nice watches in 2023.

I’ve long been considering this move and finally decided to get off the fence. So far so good

I can't post pictures yet but I ended up going on a binge due to how impulsive I am when finding walk ins.

In 2023 I got a Bluesy, two tone DJ, white roman dial DJ (SS), updated AK.

2023 has seen a monumental change in my nearly thirty year watch journey. Ended 2022 with ten watches, ended 2023 with zero watches and ended the journey. Sold all my watches, extra straps and clasps, and disposed of all the catalogs, magazines, and print paraphernalia in the recycling bin last week. It's all over and I am moving on!

Been a disappointing year watchwise (everything else has been good).

I’ve sold an Omega and a Tag and bought and sold a JLC.

I had naively assumed I’d get at least one Rolex from my AD so my watch fund is comparatively healthy, just not my collection

You chose the red pill!

May I ask what caused you to make this move? After almost thirty years, that is quite a change.

Picked up my first watch in many years, a Montblanc 1858 Iced Sea. Amazing finishing on this piece, very happy with it. Just wasn’t feeling comfortable wearing my 16710 around as much anymore now that prices have gone to the moon. I guess I’m currently not comfortable wearing a 15K watch - maybe I won’t ever be.

As far as Rolex goes, nothing from an AD, although I was able to find a discontinued DJ 116139 (WG w/leather strap/pink dial) and a NOS 11 series Batman.

I have really become frustrated trying to buy Rolexes at ADs and this frustration has spark my interest in other watch brands. This year, I was able to pick up an Omega Moonwatch Sapphire Sandwich 3861, a JLC Reverso Duo, a Zenith El Primaro Chronomaster, Baltic Aquascaphe as well as a few MoonSwatches (Moon/Mercury/Neptune/Jupiter).

While this is a lot of watches, I have a few others on my list for 2024...the inability to by a Rolex from an AD has been good for the watch market overall.

New Year's resolution for 2024: Not to visit any Rolex ADs

I added a IWC Portofino and a GS quartz. I'll likely subtract the Portofino at some point.

It hasn’t really. Bought my Sub last day of 2022 and haven’t added anything since. I honestly want to get my wife Datejust soon, but trying to save for a few other things simultaneously which isn’t helping matters.
