Would you rather......
As part of a collection...6-8 Rolex, that includes SS, PT, WG, and YG. Would you have 2 Submariners (1680 red & Smurf) or Patek 5712 1A ?
Just getting thought from my Rolex friends and fan base......thanks as always |

I LOVE the white gold sub. BUT that Patek is truly something beyond special.

I did not vote because I would rather have the sub red and a "lesser" Nautilus

I agree the Patek is something special, but I think I would rather have the two Subs (especially one in PM). Maybe add a simple Nautilus later on?

Released under any other brand name, I’d hazard to say the Patel would be regarded as poor design. Flame away...

I agree. I'm as much as a flipper as anyone on the planet, but when you're talking about getting rid of something that's out of production, then I think that merits a little more caution...an extra layer of security, if you will.

Unlike many here, I'n not a huge fan of the Nautilus watch. However, for the price, I'd add more to the pot and pick up a 5320G. Sorted.

No one “needs” two subs, and they are indeed two Submariners....but they are two very different pieces...in MANY WAYS Thanks All! |

The Patek is stunning but I prefer the looks of the subs. Me, I’d stay with the subs.

A Patek is a Patek is a Patek so tough to ever "dis" one, but all day long the Subs look better than the 5712 and you have the variety of two that make you happy. Depends on how attached you are to the 5712 (a gift? a lucky purchase? a whim?, all depends).

My thoughts are no matter how nice a single watch is, you will get bored of it eventually. So my vote is for the variety pack of Rolexes.

2 subs, easy choice for me. I don’t care for th cluttered dial of the 5712. If it were a 5711 white dial, I would choose that.

In a vacuum the subs. In the context of your collection, the Patek.

I do love the 5712, and I'd take that over two subs even as a one and only... altho I'd def add a subc at the first chance, green in my case.
Patek is doing impressively well on this forum's vote. Kudos to members here, not a fan boy club. |

I know where we are but a 10 watch collection with more than 5 of one brand seems to ignore 99% of the great watches out there. JLC, PP, Grand Seiko, ALS, and a dozen others deserve a look when you spend hundreds of thousands to build a collection.
