DJII Pleasant Surprise

I just feel the need to share how much of a sleeper the DJII turned out to be for me. I have historically been a sport model guy but also love clean white dials, which has been challenging to satisfy with Rolex. I owned a OP39 white dial but let it go because I wanted a date function and needed at least easylink. Then I bought a white dial Sky Dweller but ultimately let that go because it was just a tad too bulky for my wrist. I tried on a DJ41 and was underwhelmed. I loved the look but the case just felt too thin for my preference. I took a flyer on a DJII a few weeks ago curtesy of DavidSW and am beyond happy with it. Checks all the boxes I was looking for. Anyway just wanted to show some love for a watch that I never expected to like as much as I do. Cheers!

Same here and I own 3! Including the OP’s fluted white dial and as he says, it’s a killer watch.

Congrats on the purchase. I personally feel the DJ2 is the modern day wideboy Rolex. They defo have a following which I don’t see subsiding anytime soon.

Congrats, glad it worked out!
I went through a similar journey. I've had two DJII's in the past, but neither worked. Had the OP39 blue and I, too, wanted a date so flipped it. Now have the DJ41 and it's a keeper (so far for me).
Hope you continue to enjoy!

I did the same thing a year ago. The DJII could easily be my one and only watch.

Congrats from another DJII fan. The white dial looks good and a great choice to scratch that particular itch. I have owned 2 DJIIs myself and have since moved onto the DD2. The DJ41 and DD40 seem more dressy in their proportions, where the DJII & DD2 is more of a cross between dress and sport in my opinion. Enjoy!

Hey BT, first, congrats! Looks awsome. My DJ41 says hello. I also have a question for you.

I waited a full year to go with the DJ41 because of the new movement, being an Engeineer (and an OCD moron ) I had to have the latest and greatest; regardless of the appearance. Does it matter to you at all that your watch does not have the newest movement? I mean this in absolutely no disrespect, you have a beautiful Rolex (again ) I was just wondering if that ever came in to your thought process ? It would have bothered me that I did not have the newest and (supposedly) the more efficient-accurate movement. I guess I am wondering how normal people think, instead of s like me

For the third time, congrats!

Good question and yes it absolutely was part of my decision making process and was something I actually agonized over. Power reserve is important to me since I rotate watches and the 70 hour reserve of the DJ41 was a huge selling point to me. At the end of the day I had to choose between newer movement and what felt best on my wrist and the DJII won out. Hope this helps. Cheers!

Killer watch. I love DJIIs- they really have such a personality. Modern day Wide Boy is a great way of putting it.

Love that watch in white - looks great on you. Like you I was underwhelmed with the 41 when I first got the chance to see one in person. Decided the sportier bolder nature of the II suited me better. Like others have pointed out, the DJII is quietly becoming a classic that I think people are going to miss when they become hard to acquire. Love my blue deuce!

That is a beauty. I had that exact same watch several years ago, as my interest in watch collecting was ramping up. Congrats and enjoy!

Very interesting! I actually feel the same way.. only different What I mean is I like the looks of the DJII slightly better, but the desire of the new movement was more important. Hey, we’re both happy and that’s all that matters

Yes, I love mine.

Paul I was in the same camp as the OP & yourself. I loved the new movement but hated how it felt on my wrist. I concluded the 3136 is a proven workhorse and the wrist feel was more important. Both great pieces nonetheless.

My dad has a TT DJII and he loves it. He wears it pretty much all the time, and the couple of times I've tried it on I really liked it. So much talk about proportions and what's "right" on TRF, it really does just come down to personal preference at the end of the day.

Good thing we have different preferences or we would all have the same watch! Cheers
