Rolex Submariner part exchange
I am part exchanging my 2010, 116618LB for a 2013/2018, 116618LB. I purchased the Sub that I now have in August of last year from Watchfinder Europe branch & because I didn’t do enough research I hadn’t realised that between 2008 to 2012 Rolex had discontinued the Sunburst Dial before reverting back to it in 2013. I really liked the Sunburst Dial but because my watch was a 2010 it didn’t come with the Sunburst Dial. I have been checking the Watchfinder websites for a suitable exchange & Watchfinder Europe haven’t had a Sub 116618LB for quite a while now. I have also checked Watchfinder UK & they did have a couple of suitable Subs but because I live in Ireland & since the UK is no longer a part of the European Union I would be liable for taxes & customs duty so that rules the UK out. I did contact watchfinder UK this morning to find out if there was any way around this but was told to check their European branch, something that I have been doing for the last three or four months but they have not had a Gold Sub on their site now for the last six months. I do know I will eventually come across a suitable Sub at some point. I was just wondering if any T/R/F members would be able to give me some insight in a fair part exchange price with my 2010 Sub. It would be preferable if any members would be able to suggest a part exchange price in euros because that will be the currency I will be dealing in. Thanks in advance. This is the Watch I will be part exchanging it’s the Sub with the flat blue dial

You're better off replacing with Sunburst dial during a service from Rolex. Much cheaper than trading watches.

I’d be interested to know. I’d bet it would be in the region of 20% difference on trade in vs replacement given margins/ warranty/ risk assuming the condition is similar.
They’d quote low for PM trade in but may be kinder if you are buying the same - no way to know without asking and I could believe it if you said the difference was 10% or 30%. |
