Icon4 For those who sync there Rolex on TRF.

Just wanted to ask a quick question to see how many members try to sync their watches on the TRF clock?
Furthermore, how many others may try to sync their watches against time.gov or greenwichmeantime.com ???

The reason I ask is because I have noticed that these "Internet" sites are vulnerable to lost packets, network saturation, and high lag or ping times due to traffic and congestion. These variables will certainly cause inconsistent readings. So the point I am trying to ascertain is.......are we all in the belief that internet clocks are 100% guaranteed accurate ?

I have my doubts.........
Any similar observations out there?

Gawd, lost packets, network saturation...You should see what mechanical movements originally designed 100+ years ago are vulnerable to...

FYI- If you change your PC time setting to sync with time.nist.gov, your PC time will be in exact sync with official GMT time as seen at http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/.

Which site is your PC synced to? cos once synced then that's the time your Rolex Forum clock (and any other clock on your PC) will show. My Rolex Forum clock is synced to time.windows.com and this is spot on with timeticker.com so I suppose I haven't lost a packet.

time.gov has been the same wherever I go and it's accuracy is "self-checked" to compensate for small variations of connection I believe.
The accuracy of my Rolex Sub screensaver varies.

There is a digital date and clock time shown in red writing at the top of each forum page.
Also at the very bottom of each forum page there is a clock shown as an analogue clock.
The clocks are timed according to each user's individual personal computer time.

My watches and clocks are always set using radio-controlled clocks and watches referenced to NIST WWVB 60kHz time signals. These radio-controlled clocks and watches have a native accuracy that is no worse than +/-20 seconds per month. Most are better.

I usually use time.gov, but I've been receiving a Java script error lately. Anyone else have that problem? I have the latest and greatest, but still no luck. Glad I only gain 1.5 seconds a day...

Mine has been fine with no errors - just synced when I saw this thread - I was minus 30 seconds after a month - awesome.

I have the same problem with time.gov...it is not in "real time"..a java error..I have to click to update the time...I tried www.greenwichmeantime.com and it was perfect!! I guess I'll use this instead of time.gov!

I checked after that post and it worked! First time in weeks! And for the month of October, I'm only .8 seconds fast!
