Is the DayDate ref.18238 the best DD?

Something about this DD is just classic but is this the grail DayDate?

And also howcome this champagne dial has a nice hue to it where the DD40 has a piss like yellow champagne dial?

bad lighting makes rolex yellow gold/champagne look like cheese. that configuration is not one you can photograph, has to be seen in person

I can live with silver dial with romans on yellow gold.
But a champagne on yellow gold is just too much, not my type of tea.

And I personally think DD looks better with Romans, rather the sticks.

From the current lineup in YG the silver with romans is pretty pretty good

The Tony Soprano is, indeed, the best (at least for me).

I love the 18238. I sold it and got the 128238 however and still have the 16238 for now because I like the brushed lugs. (It’s for sale though)

I have a 18038, which I think is close enough, and for me it is THE Boss watch.

Well that's an elegant comparison.

I think it is the mist classic with what one would want with double quick set etc. the one issue is the band.

Absolutely searched for a pristine 18238 with Silver dial and sticks....found an A-Serial 1999 Safe Queen and never looked back, one of my favourite watches to wear.

The champagne looks great with the lume on the sticks and hands which gives it a little contrast.

I had the 18238 and loved it. Sold it for a 228238 silver dial and never looked back.

I like the polished lugs better and the 40mm case. I had one and couldn't get past the brushed lugs and diminutive size. Traded it for a Daytona.

Love this. The silver dial with stick markers is my favorite for the DD 36mm

Call me old fashioned, but I love the crisp look of the while dial with the Romans.

went with white on YG for the contrast and better visibility of the lumed index. Love how the day and the date windows blend into the dial. Can't complain about classic look of a DD36

I like my bark 18078 mona tone look. Going on 40 years of wear and still going strong.

Depends on the look you're going after. Seedy NJ gangster chic, or something else?

I think the green and yellow gold is the current best in the lineup.
