Great watch but I'd never buy just because it was offered.

Well done. It is a lot of money that one normally doesnt give out just because they are offering something, specially for something that is not dreamed of.

Have fun on vacation! Blow money on the sunset sailboat cruise - not on watches that you can get maybe better deals on at home.

43k Euros, that's USD 46,708.75 plus 25% VAT. That would be USD 58,385.94 total. Of course, you would have the VAT refunded about a month or two after you return to the US. But you would be out close to USD 60K upon sale for the WG GMT-II. You can do better in the US. But if it was the Meteorite dial, I would be tempted, lol.

Don’t the prices include the VAT?

Yes, I was when they brought it over. Then I was floored when I saw the price tag. I was hoping it’d be at retail price. Because it was an official retail store. How silly was I

Yeah VAT of 24% included. But the dealer said they wouldn’t be able to refund VAT on this one because it’s already assigned (or bought) by a “customer”. I guess she’s was basically telling me it’s a gray market item being sold on assignment in a Rolex AD. I didn’t know if I could get the 24% refunded. Likely not.

Whenever I buy something in Europe, they (the sellers) have the price of the item then they add the VAT like in the US.

That's the White Gold GMT II, right?

For roughly USD 47,000 from the AD, you can get the same watch on the grey market US from a reputable seller for maybe a couple of thousand dollars less but you would add the sales tax. So it would be a wash, lol.

At least the AD offered it to you.

Every time, I go to an AD overseas, every model is an exhibition piece even at the airports.

I feel the the ‘for exhibit only’ means either it’s been allocated to a loyal customer of theirs but has yet been paid and picked up or the AD is looking for someone who really want it and would be willing to pay extra for it. I mean, these are expensive inventories the ADs have to buy from Rolex upfront. Given the interest rate so high, the carrying costs can be significant. Why wouldn’t they want to sell to the right customers? Obviously, the term ‘right customer’ is up to interpretation. I imagine it’s a mixture of local rich loyal customers with sometimes generations of relationships and ‘walk-ins’ which are in some cases tourists off a cruise ship (and that was me).

Greek AD is one of the worst...

It's an AD mimicking grey ...

They "can't" refund the VAT as it's part of their revenue...
Cyprus is not much better...

Gorgeous! That one does unfortunately sit in the back at most ADs.

Nice looking, but spendy.

You said asking 43k, maybe they had lots of room to move?

Still a lot of money.

Wouldn't have bought it either. Benefit of buying that watch from AD (other than peace of mind) is to build a relationship and unless you are going to Greece a lot not worth it.

Plus doesn't sound like an AD you want to be frequenting anyway.

43K euro must have been the retail price of this piece.
In my part of Europe, the MSRP is 42K euro, but the VAT is also lower than 24%.

So by asking 43K euro, they were giving it at retail.

Not being able to claim the VAT is another thing..

43k euro for a blue screen GMT but no jubilee.

It's a robbery , for that price I expect a full gold watch.

That would be about $63K CAD … then throw in duties when coming home … pricey
