Cool Window Display at MY AD:

Stopped by my AD yesterday to see if anything new, and took this pic of the new window display, which obviously represents the Celebration OP. I wonder if that means they will start making more available. They still just had the 41 exhibition piece. The Explorer 36 is gone, but they had the 40. I asked the MGR. why he didn’t offer it to me, and he said he wants to get me one that hasn’t been worn by anyone else. “Good answer”, I thought. As I always do, I tried on a few watches:

Celebration OP 41

Explorer 40

Sub Date

Candy pink OP36

My impressions of these 4 Rolexes on my 6 1/4 inch wrist:

As I said last time, the Celebration OP 41 overpowers my wrist, but this in 36 would look awesome! The Explorer 40 is just too big, and not as nice as the 36, on me. The Sub surprised me. I think I could pull it off, If I so chose. It’s the first time I have considered it as a viable choice for another Rolex to add to my small collection. It made me want to try on one of the GMTs, but there weren’t any available. The Candy Pink OP is really nice, looks great on me, but not quite my style. It reinforced my belief that choosing the silver OP was the right move. It’s my sons who will ultimately own these watches, so pink is not a great choice. My one daughter has called dibs on the Wimbledon. Both the MGR and my SA were there yesterday, and assured me, again, they will get me my Explorer. In other news, per the MGR, Rolex has again halted the ability to order ANY watch, including Datejusts. While there, they cleaned my Wimbledon and my wedding rings. No swag this time, but I was offered a large chilled bottle of water. One last pic of my shiny clean Wimbledon.

Looks like you had a nice visit Kat, thank you for sharing with us.
My AD called me yesterday as a watch I ordered for my wife has just arrived (not a Rolex, she already has two LOL) but my AD also told me he will have something for me in either his next shipment or the following one. I am pretty sure it won't be the Pepsi I am waiting for as he says he hasn't had a Pepsi show up in a while.

Thank you for sharing your detailed impressions! I can understand how the Celebration OP 41 might feel overpowering on your wrist size. The 36mm version would indeed be a more balanced and elegant fit. The Explorer 40 being too big and not as nice as the 36mm on you makes sense, given your wrist size. It's interesting to hear that the Sub surprised you in a positive way—sometimes trying on a watch can completely change your perception of it! It sounds like it might be a great addition to your collection.

It’s the first time I’ve seen one at my AD, and almost impossible to get. Someone in my area is going to get a nice surprise, when this 36 is done with its exhibition duties. They are in short supply, like all sought after models. The Celebration, candy pink and Tiffany blue are all very hard, if not nearly impossible to get, unless you are a VIP.

Great update report on your visit .. pretty neat and 'colorful'...
I couldn't see me springing for the 'Celebration'..a bit 'too much' imo.. but if you have money to burn, one might want to go 'funky'.. I'd rather put the funds to a better find like the Explorer. Better to wait for the one you want. Hopefully a New one will come in for ya...
Cool...!!

Called my AD enquiring about the op36 celebration dial and Tiffany. He basically said I've no chance with the Tiffany and a very good chance with the celebration dial, no call for it and not many awaiting it. Fingers crossed will be a present for the wife.

Think you could pull them all off, larger watches (36mm+) look great on females IMO. Sub wise have you tried a 5 digit? They are excellent if you haven’t, even the downgraded bracelet.

Would also say the silver OP was a great choice, and with the absence of a white would probably be the one I would go for as well.

Sadly, my 16610 was stolen awhile back:

That bordered on devastating. I had to tell myself “it’s just stuff! ”

Thanks for posting the pics. I have about the same wrist size and thought the same of the 41mm Sub. The case was great. My issue was with the clasp. It was just way too large and not the most comfortable. Sold it to a friend for what I paid for it. I never felt that way about my Hulk. Have you ever tried on the 40mm Sea Dweller (116600)? I bet you would love it. Oh and the GMT fits better on my smaller wrist. Maybe a BLNR next for you Kat?

I think a BLNR would be great, too, Michelle. I have not had the chance to try one on. I do like the ceramic bezels in the modern Subs and GMTs, and the updated bracelets. I’m getting the feeling from my AD that they will try to get me the more sought after pieces, if I want them. They do not care about jewelry spends. They want to cater to locals, who aren’t flippers, and they don’t want to give all their watches to big spenders. The MGR told me he has about 20 clients, to whom he could sell every watch they get, “but that is no way to do business”. He wasn’t talking about flippers, but I presume he meant wealthy clients who want all the models. There is a lot of wealth in the Bay Area, and I presume some of those folks have discovered my independently owned AD, just a relatively short drive from SF. Michelle, we need to go Rolex window shopping together, so I can try on a BLNR, or BLRO.

Thank you. Me, too. Pics are like eye candy, so the Candy Pink was literally eye candy , but I’m not your typical girl, so preferred the silver dial. I do wonder why there are so few female enthusiasts. I just know I’ve been fascinated by watches since I was a child. It started with a quartz Timex that my Dad wore. It’s a great hobby, if a bit expensive.

Sorry to hear that, but you have adopted the right attitude for sure. Gutting, but yes, only stuff.

Good luck with the collection!

I was the same age when I became interested in watches. Pretty sure I was 9.

Could it mean they will start distributing the Celebration dial more widely? That would be awesome. My old SA, at another location now, has still never seen one IRL.
