Love the dials, but don’t love the hands and the 1990s movement…

QP WG Aventurine is discontinued?

lucasalce 2 May 2025 08:10 PM

Calibre 2956 was released in 2020 with the Anita Porchet dials. So it's a very recent movement.

Yes, and it is an insane movement.

Old QP movement, so yes. I must admit that while the new movement is big progress, I liked the old aventurine dial better vs the new Code QP.

The only thing I hate about it is that AP use all of the stone dials in the Code line last couple of years. Imagine RO or ROOs with onyx, aventurine, jade...

We asked about it when we were at the AP House. The answer we got was: “If you are LeBron James’ wife”. We actually found that answer was quite off putting.

It is... but also it is quite honest :)

Can attest to this, I have had it on my list since it came out, even with an extensive purchase history, I get laughed at every time I bring it up. I have a client from NYC whose wife has one and his purchase history is north of $5M, he eluded to it being one of the hardest watches for him to get.

TBH, I think the better move is to pay extra to buy in the secondary so you can pick the cut of the stone dial. I have seen several dials that were aesthetically unpleasing with how the lines on the stone were positioned.

Unfortunately for my wife but I am good. [emoji4]

This piece was never on her radar until about a year ago it was shown to her by our SA. This is actually the only piece on her wishlist so I guess she will not be getting anymore AP for a while.

My wishlist is also very short but only have impossible pieces. So we will just be patient and if anything comes it comes. I am fine with it as I think I have already met my spending budget for the next few years already.

Would be curious to see how much someone needs to drop to buy this grey. Only to have it looked like your watch fell into a chimney

Anyone knows what's the delivery ratio between 150 and non-150 for the 3 QPs is so far? You rarely see anyone posting the 150 online. I was told that AP actually don't want people talking about these 150 edition due to the limited quantity.

That would drive me nuts, and I'm usually not prone to OCD.

I like some variation so you can see a natural stone, but the biggest dark spot is positioned so close to the date. Feel like it really makes date hard to read on that one. Have to admit if I was offered that one I def would have been a little disappointed when I saw it.

And then you have this one almost without any mark on it, just a tiny one between 8 and 9... and another pretty dirty one...

I don’t mind the veins, adds a bit of character

Got this delivered yesterday. Pictures don’t do the dial justice and the color scheme with the strap is very unique. So happy with it.

Congrats, did you even attempt to ask for the 150 version? I would think there would be more 150s than standard version since they would probably have to stop producing them early next year. Does anyone know AP's capacity for QPs? They would have to make 450 QPs with the new movement this year, and I thought that's a lot already.
