Return what your wife bought herself, then use that money and the money she was going to spend on you on the watch!!!

Personally I would wait for the 2nd gen when they figure out all the bugs.

BMAN8 3 April 2010 12:20 AM

You have a laptop, so forget the Ipad. Go for the Rolex!

Family Man 3 April 2010 12:32 AM

Gadgets come and go. A Rolex will last a lifetime.

It's a no brainer.

However don't upset the lady. Use all of your powers of tact and diplomacy if you go for the watch. If she is anything like mine you will end up buying her a Rolex too, which is no bad thing.

Good luck!

HL65 3 April 2010 01:12 AM

Rolex of course!!!

t e x 3 April 2010 01:43 AM

this should be a non-issue. rolex!

btw, see Letterman last night when the ipad went booty on him, lol!

omg 3 April 2010 01:52 AM

You just got a new laptop.
I'd say no iPad!
GV all the way!

This will be very interesting thread if posting on apple forum ;)

-IPAD will be worth pennies in a couple of months. It will frustrate you at times and be obsolete in a couple of years. Ipad is good looking.

-ROLEX will be worth more than money, it will hold its value and will last a long time. The only problem with a Rolex is that you will want more than one. ROLEX IS BEAUTIFUL forever..

My choice:

Considering that many people don't see the utility of owning a Rolex and consider it a purely ostentatious luxury item (and likewise considering the Apple fans' OCD for Apple products), I would guess that most people on the Apple fora would tell you to not waste your money on the Rolex and buy the iPad instead...

Personally I don't see the point of the iPad since it is basically an iPod Touch with additional web browser capabiity (it can show full webpages).

If my lady asked the same thing, I'd look at her like she had two heads.

this post was way too thoughtful and sensitive......we're trying to figure out ways to get OP in a GV!!!!!

don't forget, it's also a LOT bigger than the iPod Touch, so it's much less portable and not pocketable, and it doesn't make phone calls or take pictures, so it won't hassle you with extra features like an iPhone, and it doesn't have the processing power of a laptop, so you'll still luckily get to keep paying top dollar for MacBooks, too! great product!!

I don't get it how some of you guys are afraid of your wives when it comes to watches. What kind of loved one would prevent you from owning what you love and enjoy?

ESKO 3 April 2010 03:58 AM

Howa about a new Rolex phone?

I guess you're either single or a newly wed:chuckle:

I still don't understand why anyone would want an iPad... Its not as good as a laptop and cant make calls. To me it seems like a glorified ipod. Please explain why anyone would want one?

For the same reason someone would want a Rolex instead of a Casio mutli-function watch (e.g. one with a calculator).

Rolex anytime!

Same thing may be said about iRolex, just as there are many choices of tech toys, there are many choices for wristwatches. Many people buy Rolex because it is Rolex, the same reason many people by iPad because it is made by Apple.

It is your money, do what you want. I would want to make my wife happy, in the long run, she may tolerate my watch obsession longer.

yeah but a watch is a watch. It tells time, what does an ipad do? It's like a crippled notebook. I'm not sure I follow your comparison. An ipad is like a casio? It just seems like a collosal waste of cash for a redundant device. Don't misunderstand, I have an iPhone but this ipad seems like it does nothing great or unique. Why not just get a MacBook ? It's just a giant iPhone that you can't make phone calls on right? Either way keep buying them fellas cause I grabbed apple shares at 105.

InVision 3 April 2010 08:35 PM

I will be getting an iPad to run the Rolex app on...

The only problem is that I am currently saving for my new wrist treasure. Would it be wrong to tell her I would rather have her contribute the cash to my watch fund? I love new gadgets, but I already have a new laptop and the Ipad will be cool for what a year. The Milgauss GV will be cool for a lifetime... What do you think?

I think we all know the answer to this question:thumbsup: ROLEX !!
