Ouch buddy! I would have had words with him

The_Walrus 7 June 2014 01:41 PM

If he caused that to my arm and no apology, I think I would have more to say than just bring his attention to it.

fmc000 7 June 2014 02:42 PM

I'd say something like "well, you just damaged a (put some numbers here) watch, let's hope next time you will show more care with people goods". But only because it's not my watch. Because if it were mine I suspect that my answer would have been different...

Edit: next time read the whole thread before answering.

Yup, it was an accident. If you don't want a scratched watch, don't wear it.

Dr. Robert 7 June 2014 02:49 PM

The perp should've apologized.
If the scratch is bad, can it be lightly buffed/polished out?

The crazy thing? I had been wearing my DD2 on my right wrist just 10 minutes prior as the beverage cart was on my left. No harm to my DD2 but the lack of even an apology really pisses me off. This did however get me thinking about what I would have said/done if this incident had damaged my watch.

I don't tend to have violent impulses (usually). A light scratch? I'd have probably let it go - although it would not have been a very pleasant conversation. This bump was probably hard enough to do real damage though. The laptop corner was pretty sharp and probably would have cracked the crystal or at least deep gouge. I guess that's why we have insurance though.

The 'bump'...

Yikes!!!

He should have been decent and thoughtful enough to apologies for his lack of care! Sorry to hear this!

boogiebot 7 June 2014 03:24 PM

That's crazy he hit you like that and didn't apologize. If it was me sitting beside you and I did that not only would I have apologized but I would have had to buy at least a few drinks for you in flight.

The fact this dude says nothing speaks volumes of his character. Oh well..... Some people just suck.

Mike are you sure the dude wasn't a lady???? Sounds like you were sitting next to one of my ex-wives.:agree::twit:

fishingbear 7 June 2014 04:01 PM

Accidents happen but no apology is just poor manners.
I'd put some Neosporin on that wrist.

Cry.

dalip 7 June 2014 05:10 PM

Your watch may have done better than your skin Mike..

But having someone that careless around you is never good.

What type of airline are you flying though, where business seats are that close...I'd change that first :chuckle:

bg17 7 June 2014 05:19 PM

I proudly wear the scratchs as battle wounds :)

Cru Jones 7 June 2014 06:43 PM

:wow:

Ouch. How people can't even acknowledge what they've done just blows my mind.

Looks like it's private jets from now on!

Puffy 7 June 2014 07:15 PM

you need stitches there mate or start to moisturise. skin is like my dear late grandmother's slow roasted pork shoulder after 5hrs in the oven

when these things happen here in England people apologise like there's no tomorrow, 'victim' too

but it's almost unheard of people shout out demanding an apology, stiff upper lip and all

Yeah, I have banged into people and they often apologise before I can in our green and pleasant land.

To do that to your arm and not apologise or offer to buy you a drink or two is outrageous, but rather than get angry I would actually feel sorry for someone like that, clearly they were not raised right and that is their tragedy.

Without any hesitation , what one does is as follows...

1. Extend index finger on right hand ( left hand if left handed)
2 turn face passenger next to you
3. Proceed to jab index finger into passengers eye
4. Enjoy resulting scream of agony while resuming sipping your Gin and Tonic.

Hope this helps Mike...

Ha!...hilarious!

benlee 8 June 2014 12:14 AM

I'll rather do preventive action than to get upset after it happened, which mostly likely can happen esp when flying coach in tight confine spaces. For such occassion, I'll wear my tough as nail beater, ie my Omega PO. In a collision, its more likely his laptop gets damaged first before my Omega gets scratched. :agree:

PS : Very rude. He should apologize.

Baselman 8 June 2014 12:17 AM

Well if it was me on landing it would be 283 less 1 onboard - that sucks no apology either.

SeaAndSky 8 June 2014 01:12 AM

It's difficult to believe he wouldn't apologize. The behavior of Americans is making me heartsick over what's happening in our great country. You did the right thing taking the high road and being the better man.

Gaijin 8 June 2014 01:54 AM

You handled it well Mike. Good for you Sir.

Franks07 8 June 2014 02:07 AM

Life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it

Isn't the world crazy enough already? Do we really have to debate the judiciousness of sueing someone for accidently scratching someone's watch? REALLY??

joli160 8 June 2014 05:14 AM

If I would have done that accidentally I would offer sincere apologies and try to correct it in any way possible.
I simply cannot understand people who are so rude that they simply ignore this. I would have made a nasty remark but would leave it with that.

mfnj 8 June 2014 05:52 AM

no different than banging it into a door..sh*t happens :chuckle:

landroverking 8 June 2014 06:38 AM

Just what the hell were you thinking wearing a Rolex on a plane. Check as baggage.

Stuff happens every day.

viper9669 8 June 2014 11:07 AM

Ouch, painful but you handled it well.👍
