I appreciate your votes of confidence, fellas, but you may not want to count these chickens before they've hatched. Or, sprouted. I'll just have to send you a cut rose instead.:agree::agree:

The saucer magnolia is doing its thing. I never could get it to bloom until I finally figured out not to prune it in the fall.

adorable! Love the saucer magnolia, too. I've never heard of one...
We planted some dwarf magnolia trees out by out pool and they are my new favorites! They have kind of a tall narrow silhouette, but the leaves and flowers are similar to the full sized trees. I think they get maybe 15 or 20 feet tall, but keep that narrow footprint.

Thanks, ya'll. Dawna, it's also commonly called a tulip tree, or a Japanese magnolia. It came with the house and I had to coerce (I mean, convince) hubby not to dig it up as its branches do get unruly and it grows fast. I'll cut it back severely after it finishes blooming or it will take over the front of the house.

That's little June. She's my quiet, gentle one.

She looks like a good kid.

We will never have flowers again. Tomorrow the first day of spring. We will have a high of 20, about 25 degrees below normal. They are steaming the snow off the seats at the open-air baseball park in anticipation of the opener April 1. Probably will be postponed.

Our Tampa Bay Rays play inside. Maybe in the future they will build the Twins an indoor place to play. Not sure but I think some of the northern teams were playing the first few games in Puerto Rico a few years ago. I think. It's crazy that they even try to play games this early in the year up north.

Got my private invitation to go meet John Travolta at Breitling. I can bring one guest. Who wants to go?

Yes. It's a very nice store. And, I don't much care to meet famous people and such. But John Travolta I have always liked. He lives not too far away and is a Breitling ambassador.

He is a great actor indeed!

Have fun at the store Art, I'd gladly join you but alas I must stay in my ol' town...apparently I need to learn how to fix watches or something like that...:twit:

Wow that would be cool. He's done some great movies. He's one of the few actors I'd actually care to meet.

Same here Bill. I don't really care about famous people but I do like him and his work. I grew up with the sweet hogs.:chuckle:

That's the point. More than just the Sweat Hogs, he was the villain in The Punisher, the smart guy in Phenomonon. He's an actor with range! Willing to do smaller, fun films and I like that.

I agree. He lives in Ocala about 90 mins north of here. Ocala is very well known for horse farms. As you know he is a commercial pilot and lives in a neighborhood that has and airstrip. He can then taxi his plane right up to the hanger at his house. Even though I'm sure he is quite wealthy it must be awfully expensive to fly and maintain a commercial jet.

Yay, great to hear Luppy is getting better.

Wonderful pics Lisa, no chance of spring here yet. Bet my weeds are growing though.

When's the Travolta meet, Art? Should be cool. I'll come.

Luppy's labs were really bad today. Condition has been downgraded to "guarded." We're all very sad.

East Bay Rider 21 March 2013 10:30 AM

Oh poor thing. I'm very sorry.
