116710BLNR Real World Pics. Brushed Bracelet. (pic heavy)

I am putting these pictures up to help those decide if this is the watch for them or not who have either not seen one in the metal or only seen it under the lights of the store/ pictures.
Plus who doesn't love to see pics of the beautiful BLNR!

I also did have the center links/clasp brushed and I love it!
6.5" wrist for those curious.

I have ran across some posts where people comment on the color of the blue bezel but a majority have probably not actually seen it out in the wild under different lighting conditions.
Most pictures of it are either for sale, trying it on in the store, or wrist shots but all of the same angle and they show the blue as very bright, loud and in your face.
Some comments say this watch is for casual wear only, or cannot be worn with everything like the LN because of the blue in the dial. Not a good daily watch or only watch because of the blue in it.....
I hope this post and these pics put all that to rest to show that is simply not true.
While at times the blue can be VERY BLUE, especially if outside in the sun, most of the times it is a subdued blue to even black.
The truth is the blue changes colors constantly, indoors and out, and is only really bright blue outdoors under the sun or when under the correct lighting indoors, and even then it is when looking at it from certain angles.
Turn your wrist even slightly and it changes any shade from a light blue to a beautiful royal blue blue to a deep navy blue and even black. And yes it will do this even under the sun.
I've looked at it where I honestly can see blue at the very bottom only and cannot tell where the black turns into blue because it seems black past where I know it is blue.
I also think the shine of the ceramic has a lot to do with this effect. You can see the shine at certain angles and lighting conditions more than others and it sometimes makes the bezel look reflective and monotone in a way.

The truth is, indoors in most office settings it only seems that beautiful royal blue up close or when you look at it because of the angle. Most others do not see that same color on your wrist in a normal setting (walking, moving your arms/hands while talking, etc..) unless they are up close and looking at it from the correct angle. From even a slight distance or angle it either looks black or a darker blue.
These pictures (IMHO) are a very good representation of what the bezel actually looks like outside, in the shade, indoors and at different angles.
Also took a few rotating the blue part of the bezel to the top because this changes how you see the color as well.
all taken with cell phone camera.
No tricks with camera or Photoshop on the bottom 3 pics. This is exactly what you see if you angle the watch that way.
Sorry if this is too many pics.

Very cool. beautiful watch!!

eonflux 19 April 2016 03:05 AM

Great looking watch!
Especially with a brushed bracelet, which should at least be an option.
And a Glidelock clasp should be an option as well!

minute_man 19 April 2016 03:05 AM

Some really cool and illustrating shots right there!

Steve36Efc 19 April 2016 07:23 AM

Excellent pics and watch:thumbsup:
The heaviest of pic heavy threads I've seen.:chuckle:

Nice, for all the pictures, you could at least give us a good one of the bracelet.

I would like to see some pics of the clasp too!

busytimmy 19 April 2016 10:04 AM

PCLs is one of the reasons I love my BLNR and would never consider having them brushed.

Looks awesome!

seand442 19 April 2016 10:31 AM

That watch looks amazing. That's how it should have been made.

jrs146 19 April 2016 10:33 AM

Great pics. Brushed or PCLs, it's a stunner!

Love the brushed PCLs. How about a clasp shot?

Sorry guys, didn't think much of bracelet or clasp shots as it's the same as Explorer or all the other brushed oysters and flip locks... I focused on the bezel as that seems to be the sticking point for some not getting it without actually seeing it... I will take some and post them tomorrow

Nice post and you're right on about the colors of the bezel

Brushing the PCL's is something I consider doing to mine. The problem is I'm picky. It's have to match the brushed links perfectly or I wouldn't be happy at all.

Are the tops and bottoms of your links brushed also? Where they meet each other?

RG1825 19 April 2016 08:05 PM

Looks very nice! Would definitely get this done if I were to buy one. I wonder if RSC would revert the brushing when you send it in...

harshad4005 19 April 2016 08:10 PM

Nice pics 👍🏻

While I like PCL's yours is stunning too.

brettpaul 19 April 2016 09:19 PM

Looks amazing Brian - and NEVER too many pictures for us!!

I've got a BLNR and instead of brushing the PCL's I bought a full 97200 (Sub C) bracelet so I could also have the Glidelock clasp - let me just that the brushed bracelet and Glidelock make the BLNR damn near the PERFECT watch - if I could only have one watch, that would probably be it for me.

They would return it to PCL if I sent it to them.

Brian, who did the work on your bracelet? I love it!

TimeRookie 19 April 2016 10:43 PM

Awesome watch and great pictures. I love the colour variation on the bezel. Thanks for taking the time to post all the photos!!

RichM 19 April 2016 10:50 PM

Well done Brian. Excellent shots and write up.

Nice pictures everyone.... me myself I prefer the 116710LN and think the polished Center links look pretty cool. The black bezel to me is classic. Personally I think if they would have came up with a Pepsi style ceramic bezel it would have stole the show.

It appears so.
In most lighting the brushing is spot on. There are angles where the polish seems to come through but that could just be me knowing it and looking for it.

I personally am not a fan of PCL's on sport watches which is why I had it done. I'm happy with it. Even if it's not perfect it still took away the shine of the polish which makes it a little less dressy.
It's going to get scratched and dinged up anyway... just gave the center links on the bracelet a head start..

Agree!
Wish Rolex gave the option of bracelet or strap with every purchase so anyone could get whatever they wanted. That will never happen though.

I am not sure who did it.
I got it from a trusted seller on here and they took care of it for me no extra charge. I asked them if they knew anyone who could brush the bracelet for me as I do not trust anyone local to do it. They said no problem and it was delivered brushed.

I will PM you the sellers name in case you wish to contact them directly to find out.

Thank you Brian  If you ever need to send the watch to RSC you could always send the head only.

Thanks for posting and it looks great, Brian. I like it!

Great all around and versatile watch. I'm a fan of PCLs on the BLNR but it looks great with brushed too.

That's interesting. For me, the PCLs are one of the reasons I won't buy a BLNR; they are just scratch magnets. If you're not bothered by things like that, then the PCLs do look great.

airchitect 20 April 2016 11:21 AM

A brushed bracelet on a GMT.... Just as the Rolex gods intended.

I wear my GMT every single day and can't see any real scratches tbh - no more than my hulk which was a daily wearer for over a year as well

HogwldFLTR 20 April 2016 12:41 PM

I like the PCLs personally so other than that a great photo essay of a great watch.
