Would you flip a gold Rolex for a Daytona C?
Hey,
I have a gold Rolex worth 15-16k, The new Daytona C, in Brazil will have about the same price. Would you filp the gold for a SS Daytona? Thanks for your opinion! |
Nope.
|
Personally no. Its your call though....
|
i would not. the daytona will drop in price eventually and gold to me > SS. just my 2 cents.

No sir! I would not recommend that deal.
Sell your gold watch, and hold onto the funds until a Daytona-C comes at MSRP. If you can get $2-3k out of the deal, I would recommend going for it though! |
Good advice from the guys.
|
no you can't beat solid gold!!

No, no, no. Never ever flip gold for steel. Never.
After the steel hype normalizes, you will be a long way from another gold piece. A long way. |
No not in my lifetime however adding the Daytona is the way to go. Both can function in any collection.
|
If you're not happy with your gold watch then sell it and buy Daytona @MSRP.
Straight up trade/swap NO WAY. |
Can you get that much loot for the gold watch?
If so, sell it on your own, get on a list and wait. If that is not to your liking, then heck yeah. Why not? You only live once. And you can't take your money with you. Its not like you are taking a loan out to pay for a watch that you cant afford. You are simply swapping something of higher value to get something else first. Time is worth money. So if you have more time with the DC, that has value. I say go for it. |
I'd say sell the gold and wait out the Daytona C at list. No way paying a premium, particularly 3-4k.

I imagine I did not communicate well enough. But my point was....well, never mind. It's not important. |
Guys, just to clarify, the 15-16k usd price mentioned is from the ADs here in Brazil. No premium. Currency fluctuations and higher margins account for the different msrp.
To the OP, if it's a watch you don't wear anymore, why not? If you like the gold piece, heck no. Gold is gold. |
No
|
No, I wouldn't.
|
I would not. But if you don't care for the gold one and prefer the Daytona. Make yourself happy.
|
Heck no. The Daytona is not worth any more than the MSRP.

as a precaution, don't buy or trade anything for 90 days and give a family member power of attorney. |
I agree with Tom and Eric..keep the gold.
|
I would keep the gold Yacht-Master.

|
I wouldn't.
But if you really like the Daytona-C and the gold Rolex has fallen out of favor, then go for it. My advice would be at least wait and think about it- do you really like the Daytona-C? Or is it the hype of owning one because they are in such limited demand and the hot new thing? |
