Domino's logo on Rolexes: A list of all variants
I figured it was about time somebody coherently organized all the variants of the Domino's Air-King (and the other Domino's Rolexes as well). The year ranges are general estimates, not exact hard-stop timeframes. Please let me know if any of this info is wrong or incomplete! All photos from Bob's Watches unless otherwise noted.
1974: The first known Domino's Air-King appears. This 5500 is believed to be a one-off prototype, and went for about $20k at auction several years ago (Photo from bidsquare): https://i.imgur.com/chLsm85.png 1975-1989: The 5500 Air-King was made for well over a decade with what I'll call the "Big Square" Domino's logo: https://i.imgur.com/B9I4aHM.jpg 1990: 14000 model debuts, keeping the familiar "Big Square" briefly: https://i.imgur.com/CUoe7Gh.jpg 1991: 14000 model with a rare "Black Square" variation: https://i.imgur.com/rV9iQvx.jpg 1992-1994: 14000 model with "Small Square" appears (photo by Awad Watches): https://i.imgur.com/7ONoCjN.jpg?1 1995-1999: 14000 model now has a "Tilted Square" logo similar to prototype: https://i.imgur.com/AjZmmoj.jpg 1995-1999: 14010 model, same as above but with engine-turned bezel option: https://i.imgur.com/uwYTUMw.jpg 2000-2004: 14000m. Upgraded movement, no more lugholes, and Rolex began switchin to Luminova around this time. Other than that, this 14000m is visually pretty much the same as the 14000 before it: https://i.imgur.com/k8Mxe0a.jpg They may have stopped offering the engine-turned bezel for a while, as I've never seen a 14010m with a Domino's dial. 2005-2006: No more Domino's dials! The Domino's logo has now moved to the first full link of the bracelet of the 14000m: https://i.imgur.com/AwSgkhU.jpg 2005-2006: 14010m, same as above but with engine-turned bezel option (photo by Beckertime): https://i.imgur.com/ZO55LBu.jpg?2 2007: 114200 model debuts. Domino's Air-Kings now have a silver 3-6-9 dial, and the Domino's logo still on the first full link of the bracelet: https://i.imgur.com/t94o5yQ.jpg 2008-2011: 114200 with what I'll call a "simplified logo" with no words. Also note it has moved down to the 2nd full link: https://i.imgur.com/vWb3M4v.jpg 2008-2011: It seems the Domino's 114200 was also offered with the full logo, now on the 2nd full link: https://i.imgur.com/bpsAZIb.jpg 2012-2015: Domino's seems to have started giving out 116000 models for the "Domino's Challenge" instead of 114200 models: https://i.imgur.com/xFulfMn.jpg 2015+: Domino's Rolexes now have the newer style of silver dial: https://i.imgur.com/EHZEd3J.jpg Domino's logo dials also appeared on ladies' models 67194, 67180, and 76080: https://i.imgur.com/zfGtHFL.png All Domino's Rolexes should have an engraved caseback that looks like this: https://i.imgur.com/ZwMIN5F.jpg?1 If you have the paperwork, the purchaser should be "Domino's Pizza" as shown here (photo by exquisitewatches): https://i.imgur.com/ESyakFZ.jpg?1 |

Great work, Rob. Thanks for putting all this together
I couldn't afford the Domino's Rolex so I dropped $40 on a Mopar Caravelle :agree: |
Amazing report Rob.

Great report and seldom see this reference. I have NOS Domino air king and I think the reference is 14000 with smooth bezel. It has exact domino paper works as stated.

I've always thought these were quirkie cool!
Great report! :read: Thanks for putting the time and effort into doing it Rob! |
Very nice write up. Thanks!
Were these given as corporate gifts, to store owners, regional reps, etc, or? What's the back story on them? I've often wondered. |

Correct It is tilted square logo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I never liked the Domino Watch, I have had one pre-owned to sell at one time years ago and it sat forever. Now it would sell quick. It has a place I guess for collectors, I just can't get into it.

Great write up! Now time for the Pool Intairdril write up!

Love the white dial AK, wish they still made it.

Ten years of accident-free grocery delivery for Winn-Dixie was clearly considered a major achievement at one time.

GM's had to hit a 25k sales goal for 4 consecutive weeks I believe. Over time the goal raised to 50k/week iirc

I think that not only 116000 were given since 2011, but solos 114200 still were given as I have this watch in my collection. Hope this helps keep track of dates and movements done from reference to reference.

As mentioned, those targets may have gone up with inflation: I don't mind, I got mine in 1995 (with my initials on the back) . Hardly wear it, but when I do, beats any other Rolex watch for looks and the story behind it. |
Thanks for sharing. I've only seen the one with the logo on the dial. Never knew they put it on the bracelet.

How to spot a fake Dominos Rolex?
Anyone know how to spot a fake Domino's Air-King?
Im looking to buy one of the big square dominos logo without papers. I noticed that the little ® is to the right of the logo rather than underneath as shown in the OP. Also the white domino imprint seems too perfectly centered and has clean edges compared to the slightly off-centered imperfect edges as shown in the OP. Any knowledge in how to spot a fake is greatly appreciated! Thanks! |

I've had my eye on these when I see them for sale. I haven't pulled the trigger but this thread is making me want to do so. These are so cool to me .

Have there been regular air kings fitted with domino's dials? I would think so, as there have been domino's air kings that have received regular dials or even re-dials, but fakes haven't been made, there simply isn't that big of market for them. |
Wow! I didn't think this would be a thread I'd read on my first day on the forum.
So, I'm a Domino's franchisee in the UK and this thread has brought back a lot of memories. We've been blessed to win over 120 Air Kings over the past 20 years and I've just posted in the welcome forum that my most sentimental watch is the Air King I won as a store manager. The original story is something that we hold very close to our hearts in Domino's. For those that don't know: The chain’s founder, Tom Monaghan, gave his highest-earning franchise owner the watch right off his wrist. In his 1986 autobiography, Pizza Tiger, Monaghan wrote, “I wore a Bulova with our Domino’s logo on its face. A franchisee asked what he had to do to get that watch from me, and I told him, ‘Turn in a twenty-thousand-dollar sales week.’ He did it.” Since then, managers have tried to break a sales barrier record (for 4 consecutive weeks) to hit a different Rolex "level", with the reward being an Air King Domino's Rolex Watch. Every single watch that our franchise has won has been given to the store managers and it's something we are very proud of. I did feel like the ultimate king one day when I walked out of an awards ceremony in Vegas with 20 of them about a decade ago. My Grandad wore my Air King from the day I won it, to the day he passed in 2015. It's something I'll always hold close to my heart. This forum is great and thanks for being so welcoming |

So we were actually meant to be receiving rolexes/awards tomorrow in Las Vegas :crying: but obviously it was all cancelled. Yes, they are still handed out at ceremonies but sometimes country by country (or state by state). We actually give ours out to our managers out of our internal awards ceremonies. I've had lots of friends commenting on them before but I've never seen other members of the public's thoughts. This thread has been really insightful! |
