Vintage Women's Rolex sleuth's needed

Hello all,

first, let me start with a disclaimer. This watch will NEVER show up for sale anywhere! Period!:clap::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Second, it was not found in the back of my fathers safe!:banghead::joy::agree:

Okay, now back to the mystery, I was at my Mother-in-law's for the holiday's and we were talking watches. My father-in-law talking about his Patek's and me with my Rolex, then my Mother-in-law asked if I would like to see her grandmothers rolex...........aaaaaaah? Yea!!!

So these pictures are what I saw, I had no clue what to tell her, there was no serial numbers or model numbers anywhere. One of the bracelets welds has come loose and I asked my wife to put it on so I could take some pictures.

I have convinced her to send it to Houston, but until she does this, it would be nice to ask everyone here to solve the mystery........does anyone know about this watch?

Thanks in advance to all you Sherlock's in the making

Maybe you could send it to Bob Ridley or Dalton, I'm sure they could really clean and fix up the case!

It is actually really clean, the pictures were tough to take, I only had my 16-40L and it was not ideal for "macro". Additionally, it has a magnification style crystal, and my flash and lighting were horrible.

Next time I go down I will bring the macro lens, or my hopes is that she has sent it in for service for then, and I can post what it is.

No one knows what it is? I told her you guys were the best!:dummy:

1960's cocktail watch (most earlier ones were 9k), faceted crystal, probably with a caliber 1400 or 1401, the smallest movements Rolex has made.

Not much market for them, usually in the $1,200 - $1,500 range, but still a nice looking watch.

Check for a hallmark on the inside case back. If so, any jeweller can nail down the year the case was made.

Sweet! aaaaaah, not sure what to give for a gift?

how about an old fashioned sincere "Thank you!!!" and if "way up north" is buy me, I will buy you a nice glass of chimay!

so is "cocktail watch" the name of the style? or is it a variation of some other model? If you don't know that is fine, looks like the service will be as much as the watch  so goes "family value":clap:

Thanks very much:cheers::cheers::cheers::thumbsup::thumbsup::c lap::clap::clap::bye::bye::bye:

Yep, I don't think they were known by any other specific name

Well, it's comforting to know that all the parts are still availible to service the movement, at least up here. Toronto RSC overhauled Nancy's 1960 with the caliber 1400 a couple of years ago, about $500 including a bracelet repair.
