 You are pretty much writing with mont blanc, less the cost of the pen and not have to worry about if someone borrows it and never return it.

:thumbsdow You are kinda ripping off mont blanc by not buying their pen and using their ink, at least you paid for the ink.

I supposed its not so bad if you already owns a mont blanc and need some disposable mont blanc for filling out forms and not having to worry about losing it. :chuckle:

One of the best things about my Mont Blanc is the feel of it.

One of the best things about my G2 with Mont Blanc ink, is the feeling of spending 300.00 on something else.

astcell 27 December 2006 05:43 AM

Well then there *IS* something you would spend $300 on. What is it? Maybe I will spend $15 on that instead.

fat-sam 28 December 2006 07:03 AM

i like my mont blanc, but it is tempremental and 2 of the last 5 re-fils have been dodgy

DIVER4USN 28 December 2006 07:18 AM

Point taken. I would not wear a Seiko with a 3135 and be satisfied, even though they would both have the same guts!

People knock MB pens as they are sort of the "Rolex of fountain pens" and that's not usually said in a good way. It's what 99% of the population think of as the "best pen" even though there are far better out there. However my MB pen has worked fine over the years and writes quite well even though it has seen some hard knocks over the years.

I found that using bottled ink and the converter gives much better performance than using the cartridge refills, so if the refills are not working I would suggest getting a bottle of ink and giving that a try.

Avalon, there are also better watches than Rolex as well, just not as well known. Marketing takes a few points nowadays.

I found this pen in my carry on satchel. I was in china from mid sept til end of october last year, and I stayed in ritz for about 3 weeks.

I remember using it to jot things down but since I never thought of it as more than a cheap pen, I never paid much attention to it until today.

So I begin to compare it to my mont blanc, It looks and feels like a mont blanc, it even writes like one. I know this can't be true as even Hotels like the Ritz don't give away real mont blancs as I realized that I got like 5 of these pens laying around.

So I compared them:

So far looks like they use the size size casing, even the weight are the same.

Same length.

So thats why it wrote like the real thing.

As someone who no longer owns a Rolex, I understand that pretty well. ;-)

I like the ink too. Because I am left handed G2 ink smears onto the paper and my hand. Mont Blanc doesn't for me. It also writes very smooth. My latest 3-4 refills have been dodgy too. In the past It wrote forever with no problems. Now they feel empty prematurely and because the refill is metal rather than plastic you can't see if the refill is empty, or just not working well.

Can't say I like the face on that one, thanks for the link.

Where do you guys buy your "dodgy" inks? I am in the states and just order from reputable office supply stores or from one of their boutiques.

Office Depot in the USA. Are they supposed to be dodgy or reputable? I wouldn't say counterfeit, maybe is it just old stock?

Should be very reputable. I get from officemax sometimes.
