Ipad or New Rolex

My wife just told me that since she will be getting a new Iphone for herself for her birthday that to help soften the blow (I told her she would hate her crackberry) she will be getting me an Ipad. The only problem is that I am currently saving for my new wrist treasure. Would it be wrong to tell her I would rather have her contribute the cash to my watch fund? I love new gadgets, but I already have a new laptop and the Ipad will be cool for what a year. The Milgauss GV will be cool for a lifetime... What do you think?

sakuraba 2 April 2010 02:30 PM

Who needs technology? :chuckle:

Years from now, a current generation iPad will be superceded by newer models, rendering it obsolete. That Milgauss will not only be cool, but (if discontinued) also worth more than what you paid for it.

wamboozi 2 April 2010 02:35 PM

It's your wife's birthday you said.......so........tell her you don't want an ipad (from a hardcore apple user, I think the ipad is garbage, basically an oversized iphone with no camera) and that she doesn't need to get you anything and that she deserves a nice birthday gift for herself.....
That will soften the blow when you buy your Milgauss!

bodybump 2 April 2010 02:46 PM

Well...Its not much to take from your watch funding if you buy an ipad...so if it will take you longer to get the GV..i say get the ipad first...

Rolex or iPad....

easy Rolex

I'm as much an Apple fanboy as Rolex, but I can't understand the need for the iTouch or the iPad...the GV though, I completely understand that!

A new version of the ipad will probably be out in 8 months! At the very least, wait until the 2nd gen comes out so that you aren't overpaying and getting a bunch of bugs.

x2. Make sure you make your wife happy.

mikester 2 April 2010 05:18 PM

get the ipad now.. cause its probably not going to be as easily available in the next few months and sell it for more to someone who "must" have it yesterday... that's extra money for your watch fund..

JJ Irani 2 April 2010 05:26 PM

Heard of an ipod. Now what the hell's an ipad???:rofl::rofl:

Sheesh, what happened to the days when we used just paper and pencil? :bartmoon::lol::lol:

Carlos98326194 2 April 2010 06:08 PM

Have you heard of an Isheep? :dummy::dummy::bartmoon::rofl::cheers::cheers:

Rolex anytime!

I don't think the first generation ipad is a good buy for many.

The choice is yours but if you already have a new laptop then I don't think the ipad is going to add a great deal of 'add value'.

I would go for the watch. I do have 3 Mac's of various sorts and I love the Apple products but the ipad is yet to convince me of it's real value.

bayerische 2 April 2010 06:09 PM

I think (hope) you know your wife better than any of us do... :dummy:

Seriously. I'm a hard-core Mac addict/user too, and I'm not overly convinced about the iPad. It's a great looking "gadget", but I'm not sure it will have any proper use. A computer you need to hold on too with one hand all the time?! Muscles tires very quickly.

Joey_V 2 April 2010 06:11 PM

Who cares about the iPad??

The GV will last you a lifetime whereas the iPad will be replaced by something better AND cheaper in a matter of a year.

I couldn't agree more! I'm really a hard core MAC user myself (have been so for over +10 years), but I really don't get the hype about the iPad. I mean, and this is just one example, why even bother having a gadget that is focusing a lot on browsing the net in a easy and "cool way", but not offering the use of flash. Just this "little thing" - is a big no no in my book.

Cheers,
Joe

this is not even a question

al_bongo 2 April 2010 06:47 PM

I'd put the money towards a Rolex. Love my iphone but fail to see what an ipad offers beyond a netbook or a macbook plus your Rolex will be worth something in 5 years time.

Orr 2 April 2010 06:53 PM

is the Ipad's clock COSC certified?

That's a good point, I wonder how heavy the iPad is, but I'm sure it will not be like holding a mobile phone...

Excellently put! I use this tactic and it works every time!
I just hope she's not reading this?? :concerned

QueueCumber 2 April 2010 07:54 PM

Get a Kindle, put the rest of the money towards the watch...

This. You already know what to do....:chuckle:

chrislkb 2 April 2010 09:25 PM

Rolex without a doubt!

Ultraman 2 April 2010 09:28 PM

I go for the GV! It gonna last a lifetime!

Nicko 2 April 2010 09:31 PM

An iPad will be worth a dumptruck of crap in a year or so, but a Rolex, now that's something that will be awesome forever!

marshallr47 2 April 2010 09:42 PM

Go with the watch. It will indeed last you a lifetime. Best of luck.

nauticajoe 2 April 2010 09:52 PM

Take the $ you would have spent on the Ipad & allocate it towards the Milgauss fund. In 8-12 mos, when the Ipad becomes 'yesterday's' technology, you'll thank yourself.

RLXSTR 2 April 2010 10:00 PM

New Rolex....the iPad is missing a few things...so I'll wait for version 2 or 3 on the iPad....but a Rolex is timeless!!!

jets 2 April 2010 10:02 PM

Get a Rolex instead =)

Esexx 2 April 2010 10:04 PM

Wait for the 4g iPad. Should be released early next year. Wife should wait for the 4g iPhont too. Will be out by summer.

Go for the Rolex!

Cru Jones 2 April 2010 10:16 PM

THE WATCH!!! :dummy: :dummy: :dummy: :dummy: :dummy:

but, for a fair and balanced view, you should post this question in an apple iPad forum....
