Bad experience with my Pam 312
I bought my Pam 312 K last year on september 09.
The watch was BNIB with papers and accesories. I wear it nearly everyday and the accuracy was quite good, by the month it happen that the watch stopped twice. That wasn't a big problem as i though that it wasn't enought wound. But this problem become more and more regular and this month my Pam 312 breakdown finally. I am quite disapointed because this is my first Panerai and i was expecting on the quality and reliablity of such a watch. I also own 2 Rolex and I never had any trouble with them. I don't know what is the problem exactely, I though that Panerai work hard on quality control and test all watches perfectly before putting them on the market... I am hesitating between Paris or HK service centre, any advice !!! Cheers. |
just got my first pam 3 weeks ago and i flipped to another model... hope it doesn't have movement defect etc otherwise i will :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: :banghead::banghead:

so pam in-house mvmt not as reliable as ETA or UNITAS??...hmmm....
|
sorry to hear that.
but my 112 is rock solid and dependable. i also chose it because its simple movement sort of like a pocket watch on your wrist. |
Sorry but I have to add to this my experience as well...
Bought my 312 less than 2 months ago and it has stopped for two times. Last time it stopped I looked at the back and i was amazed to see small screw which comletely fell of and bloked mechanism inside...Lucky for me it was 10 minutes job in local AD but still I was so dissapointed... So check the screws not wandering around... Just hope it will not happen in the future...but the watch does look amazing:)))) |
Uros is your pam K or L series?

Now when I look at it I first look whether is small second hand working and then what time it is:)) |
i would definitely take it to a service center to get it checked out!
i bought my 312L a couple months ago and it's great so far! (knock on wood) gains about 6s/day, but not really a big deal for me. the 312 is a great piece!! |
Mine runs perfectly!!!
|
Bought my L back in March and it was running 15 secs fast. I sent it TX and got it back in two weeks (!!!). It's now spot on. My guess is Panerai could do a better job of regulating before shipping but nothing inherently wrong with the in-house movement.
Of course my 111/005 were dead accurate OOTB but we're talking about time tested and proven movements in those. |
i ve herd this from 9 different 312 owners. problems problems and more problems.

My 312 is in for servicing as we speak as well.....
When I pulled out the crown to move the hands to set the time....the hour hand would only move forwards and not backwards.
I think we are the guinea pigs for these early 3 day in-house movements. Not a big deal...but it makes you wonder why these in-house movements were developed in the first place if no more reliable and accurate than the base movements in older Panerai's. I think Swatch had a lot to do with forcing Panerai to make in-house movements than it was Panerai wanting to be a movement manufacturer. |
guess i m gona put my plans 2 hunt for the 312 on hold for the moment...great info n feedback guys...n thanks 4 sharing...cheers
