Panerai goes skiing

It's nice to share the passion on the slopes. Have an identical sticker on the back of my crash hat too.

Looks like you're at a nice summit lodge. What mountain did you ski at?

That's Mont Tremblant, Marc. Verticle drop there is about 2200' of wildly varying terrain from double diamond bump runs to easy green cruisers. They have about 100 trails over three faces.

The lodge did look familiar as I skiied there 2 years ago with the family. It's a beautiful mountain and even though the "village" is pure fakery, I did like the "Frenchie" factor. I don't speak a lick of French so it was very easy to feel like I was somewhere else besides Canada.
I ate poutine at that lodge. It's really not as bad as Al lead me to believe, but surely, it's not heart healthy food.

Regardless of the 'fake' village, as resorts go, it's pretty good. Basically a Quebecois version of the village at Whistler. Blue Mountain on Georgian Bay has an 'Ontario' version of this village... it's an Intrawest trademark.

Before Intrawest, Tremblant was a sleepy mountain with about a dozen small 'cottages' in the village. One for the rental shop, a couple for restaurants, one for the ski school and ski patrol. In the old days, the patrollers and instructors lived on the mountain in these rickety old places. They still exist, these cottages, but are part of the 'lower' village. The most notable is Le Petit Cariboo, which has been expanded and gone up scale as THE place to have apres-ski... complete with les lapin du ski dancing on the bar and yes, sometimes topless. :smokin:

BTW, you ate poutine and survived? You're a bigger man than I, Gunga Din. ROTFLMAO!

LOL! If it's done right it's actually pretty tasty, but as you say, not exactly health food! :chuckle:

Oh yeah... the 01 was hiding under my jacket and gloves, so no worries. And no snow bath either.

If someone actually commented on the logo, I think I'd fall over though. LOL What are the chances?

BrianLavin 13 February 2007 07:25 AM

Looks like a blast. My kids love to ski. Keep the yourself safe and the watch undercover.

I dont know what is happening in this thread but could one of the Mods please provide an explanation or something as there must be a hacker here.

At least 3 or 4 threads have been deleted (including my own) in which we ask if it is really true that Atomic has been banned or whether this is some sort of joke or mistake, as i can not see why such a popular member of the board would be banned.

I am sure that a moderator would not have deleted this without a simple PM to the writers of the messages as common courtesy would dictate, and besides nothing untoward was written so i can not possibly imagine why a moderaor would delete this anyway. Therefore this leads me to assume that maybe some hacker / trouble maker has been deleting the messages of concern towards our friend Atomic's whereabouts / status etc.
Thanks for any clarification from moderators / owners received in advance regarding these deletions, and whether the hacker has been dealt with.

Nothing has distructed yet?

Launch Mini 17 February 2007 05:15 AM

What is the access to the mountain like.
In the lower mainland of BC, we have 3 local hills that are a quick trip from "downtown"
Whistler/Blackcomb is a couple hour drive, and the road is often closed for weather or accidents. Basically one way in & one way out.

MODS - Why not just make an announcement on what's going on here?:agree:

Our local news is really trying to pump the publicity of the local ski hills, as Whistler will be the home to many of the 2010 Winter Olympic events.
This week, there is actually a ski competition for a Mexican contingency.
Reminds me of the Jamaican Bobsled team.
How many of you out there plan on coming to the 2010 Winter Olympics?
