Is the crystal on a 233 "softer" than other pams?

I just saw my friends K series 233.. It had very light swirlies all over the domed crystal. I tried wiping it and used tooth paste to remove it, but its still there.they're not that pronounced nor can you feel them, but I accidentally noticed them when I was trying to photograph it with my phone and the led light went off.

The camera couldn't pick up the sfrathes, or swirlies, but I definitely can see them.

Comparing it to my 352, it was flawless. Well to be fair the 352 was newer.

But how did one get swirlies on a 2mm thick crystal? There were no visible deep scratches though..

I think sapphire is sapphire, so the sapphire crystal on 233 *shouldn't* be any difference in hardness compare to the rest of the sapphire crystals.

but keep in mind that the 233 crystal is high dome so it can catch on stuff while on the wrist, may be more *easier* than a flatter crystal.

also, sapphire is not "scratch prood", its just "scratch resistant", so with enough contact, it will leave a mark

Yep, agreed, the domed crystal is more likely to attract scratches. I've got a couple dings on my bezel, but I have yet to notice any swirls or other markings on mine.

And toothpaste should be a first Aid kit for crystal faint scratches...?

Toothpaste won't do anything on a sapphire crystal....other than maybe make it smell minty fresh for a bit.

Oh well a minty fresh Pam sounds pretty good to me lol.

I'll see to it..

I think it could be an optical illusion. When I first got my 233, the domed crystal seemed to create a circular "shadow" on some angles which could be what you're seeing. Not sure. But apart from being a more prone to scratches from the sheer size, I am guess the crytal should be of the same material as the flat crytals.

Well nonetheless it may be an illusion somhow, but it was what I saw last night.

Anyway, I made the jump, I switched to 233=. Hehehe.. Pics coming soon guys!
