About time! (yes, I know him)

bigmikebee 7 November 2010 11:23 AM

Nice!

karmatp 7 November 2010 11:26 AM

Great purchase!!! I love my fiver and will never part with it, it's way to much fun. Now start looking at some aftermarket straps and you will see why a Panerai is such a fun watch to own.

My 005 on a nice vintage ammo. In tha summer I wear in on a Ted Su dive strap, it's a killer combo.

Here is the Ted Su dive strap, best $60 I ever spent on a strap.

I have noticed that you are already selling this on the sales corner, all I can say is that it looks perfect on your wrist!

why are you selling this!? what a great watch! i love my 005.

snog 15 November 2010 04:21 AM

yep mate it really suits you, give it a few more weeks as I doubt that will affect resale value, going from a Rolex to a Panerai will take some getting used too.

logo is my hero...nice pickup

psv 15 November 2010 05:17 AM

Lovely 005! Well done!

Speed 15 November 2010 06:58 AM

Hmm...

As Trevor has discovered, the OP has tired of the 005 after a week:

I'm thinking the 44mm is just to big for my wrist. The several straps I tried on make it look even bigger. Not sure if I should try a 40mm or what to do. I keep finding myself wearing my rolex over the Pam...

have you tried a trappering strap? I know how your feeling mate,I put my Pam up for sale straight after buying,it was a mixture of size and problems I had when I bought the watch but once I gave the watch some wrist time it felt right at home,if you can give it some time, I can't see it affecting the selling price but if your sure it's not the one for you, good luck in finding something you enjoy wearing more.

Speed 15 November 2010 08:15 AM

You might want to try a deployant buckle / strap set up.

The tang buckle straps ride up the side of my wrist making me feel like I am wearing the big boy's size.

Don't give up - yet.

I'll browse the forum for a used one. Thanks!

Cool.

You can find aftermarket deployant buckles at http://panatime.com/debu.html for a fraction of the price of an OEM buckle. The latter go for about $400.:wow:

Check out the over / under fit on my 6.5" wrist...works well I think. Mike the Mod turned me on to deployants as a good Panerai solution for me.

I think the Pam deserves a little more time to settle down. I went from a gam to a Rolex, and kept finding that the Rolex is way too small, but after giving it some time, it feels natural now..

htc8p 24 November 2010 05:52 PM

and manual wind is already the flatest a pam can get. you gotta have at least 1 pam. but you really can handle it let it go.

Whats your thoughts about adding a bracelet to this watch?

I think that would make it seem even bigger, that would add some weight,if you are not loving the watch as it is,I can't see changing the strap would improve the situation much,I would suggest only try that if you plan on keeping the watch, rather than hoping the bracelet will fix the size issue.

flyinbrian 25 November 2010 01:27 PM

I went and tried some on last weekend in Chicago as I have never had one on before. When I first tried a few on I thought that they might be to big and decided it was not the watch for me and for some reason the 40mm did not excite me in a Panerai. I had a few pictures taken of the watch on my wrist and now I can't stop thinking about them or looking at them. I am on the fence myself :chuckle: I might need an intervention
